Thank you very much for posting this video. I just had the exact problem with my wifes 2006 A4, pulled the code for a misfire in cylinder 3, bought the coil pack and did the repair in about 15 minutes. Saved big bucks Thanks again

I had this same problem in two cylinders. I replaced the spark plugs first, thinking that was the issue. 2 weeks later, and the problem's back. My only tip; don't pull out all of the coils like this guy! Disconnect each coil individually before pulling them out and replacing.

Great video! I changed all 8 of my spark plugs watching this video on my Audi S4. Never done anything like that before - it was a lot of fun. Remembering to remove the screws on the spark plug wire harness is key, then using a screw driver, snap the "release" on the coils then the harness comes free. I don't know how Ammreid got all four coils out with the harness attached! Thanks again!

Now its fixed and next week will be easier. I guess I will buy 3 more and wait for it to go bad....now with this video, I can do it myself. Hopefully I won't beak any that plastic.

The Shaking in the video is very heavy and noticable. I know what your talking about, Yes, these cars are known to have a slight vibration, same with the VW's during those year styles. If I'm not mistaken, it has something to do with the Chassis and how the engine block sits vertical instead of horizontal. It will always be a problem, some think its the mounts but its not. I don't think the newer B8 styles to date have that vibration going on, since they changed the chassis. Thanks for watching

On my 2006 A4 2.0T I had misfire on cylinder 4, check engine light flashing and car went limp. Was 120 miles away from dealer so went to a Firestone and was told about the recall from 2010. Had them replace all four due the recall, of which I knew about. Still had the letter in my glove box, but took no action back then. Paid out of pocket for repairs. Called Audi of America, they are having me fax in invoices from Firestone and will get possible reimbursement. Check you VIN for recall.

yes... unclip all the clips first. and then you can remove just 1 coil at a time.. don't do it how it did it..(all at once) you will risk snapping/breaking the connector

hey thanks bro for the info. Quick question, when I turn on my ac it feels like it sucks up all the energy from the car. +Gustavo Argueta .. hey man ..based on your symptoms its probably "not" the coils. You'll have to a mechanic on here to chime in... You;ll know when its the coils, it will be very obvious with severe shaking and misfiring.. good luck in correcting your issue.

Hey, sorry for the delay, just saw this comment. It happens often with ignition wires in many other vehicles, but I don't hear about them frying in these cars. Something is probably causing too much spark/heat at the connection. If it were me, I'd probably change the coils, spark plugs, and you'll definitely have to change the fried connector strip(probably dealer only item). Let me know what happens or if you took care of it already.

If you have bad coil packs will that also cause you to have a hard start when you turn you car on ?
@Radioswim
9 жыл бұрын
Jose Chico Sorry, I know 4 months old, just noticed no one answered you. Coil packs rarely if ever will go bad to the point that they won't spark at all, so the worst you'll ever see is a cylinder mis-fire under acceleration due to a weak spark. The last time I had bad coils, 2 of the 4 were bad. The car idled beautifully, and even drove beautifully in 1 and 2nd gear (under about 4000 rpm) but as soon as I tried to give it a lot of gas, it mis-fired and shook violently. If it's hard to start, it's either a bad battery, or starter. If it continues to run hard (poorly) once started, it could be low fuel pressure (clogged fuel filter) or even a faulty ECU.

Good video. What were the engineers thinking at Audi when they have all four coils connected by the harness? It looks like you have to disconnect all four harness to get access to each one. That's bullshit.
@henryt9254
7 жыл бұрын
No, the video shown the wrong way of removing the harness. You only need to unclip the wiring on cylinder #1 to remove the coil and spark plug for that without having to remove the entire harness. The way the video is doing it, it runs into the risk to cracking all the over coils.
