The slow respectful walk...it reminds me of the way a military soldier salutes a fallen soldier at their funeral. It gets me everytime in the heart when I see it. I'm from a totally military family. Our Dad was saluted that slow, respectful almost reluctant for it to end salute at his funeral by one of our younger soldiers in the family. That walk is the same way. Theres something about serving your country and paying the ultimate price that leads our collective hearts to bleed.

How can there be females? The Old Guard is an Infantry unit: its TOE [Table of Organization and Equipment] calls for 11B MOS. 11B is [or was??] closed to females, although females can possibly serve in non-Infantry [CS and CSS] support functions. Don’t misconstrue my intent/meaning. As a retired Army LTC, I served with female soldiers from my service as a 2LT through retirement as an LTC. Females can, and do, execute the same duties as males in most ways. It isn’t the gender that makes the soldier, it’s the soldier’s professionalism, devotion to duty, patriotism, and love of country.
