@@maitlanddarragh5676 because when you perform above the rest you may still be all on a hourly rate but this is the reason there is someone doing your exact same job earning more money and getting better benefits... both working on a hourly rate... yes.. but one is being more productive and punching out more jobs making the company more money so the owners see theres more to spend on better equipment. Better workplace ect ect. Have a crew of poor mentality workers moping around by the hour. Or a crew of workers given it 100% and out performing the competition.....

The only benefit you get is an ego rush knowing you put out more products than your co-workers. Yaay?

I knew a dude who rented a spot at a mechanics he sold used tires would buy them for 5 to 15 dollar sale for 40 to 50 he had a line of customer because some places actually try to charge 80 for used tire knowing they pay 10 for them and can do 40 ot all depends on what csr you drive and if thy think you have money or know you etc.. the point is per tire I'd be working like the flash my self .. the point the owner mechanic kicked the tire guy out said its a mess now he hired a tire dude to do the job hourly and he makes all the profit took the guys connect... just fyi

He's definitely not going to make a hundred bucks an hour working for any Tire Company I ever heard of. If he works as a subcontractor he might have days where he makes a hundred bucks an hour but doing it consistently would not be easy.

Here is the thing, I handled doing everything terrifically easy, my experience and the skills I acquired were still very sharp, I was proud of myself till the end of the first day back on business, my body... well... my body... picture a dash of a German car full of failure lights popping up for every component it has, that was my body giving accurate information of what I had done. Lol.

@@maestro951 Cage inflation is standard in most shops for a reason. That rim can kill you. The tire can too, but they usually just blow out the sidewall, so when doing it like in the video, it is moderately dangerous. That doesn't mean I don't still do it though.

Getting the thing off the rim is the part I found the hardest when I had to do it myself on a JCB. It was quicker to take the wheel off and use the back bucket which I saw on another KZitem video. Could have used this guy on that day.

My uncle passed away this year he worked for 60 years in his tire shop changing tires on farm machinery. At 95 He was still strong as an ox and tough as nails. Much respect to all those that take pride in their work

@Cool Guy Semi trucks account for a very, very large majority of business infrastructure. By changing tires that quick, he's able to assist in putting more trucks on the road, increasing capacity of said infrastructure, being that tires are single-handedly one of the, if not the most, important part of a vehicle. While breaking down the numbers may make it seem insignificant, if everyone stopped fixing semi trucks, most businesses would fail very quickly

Working in a tire shop this kinda stuff gets pretty standard I worked at Les schwabs it’s all pretty much the same technique for normal cars to you just gotta take the tire off the car first

Also, shops don’t pay minimum. if you know anyone that does and still works there slap them and tell’em to go find another shop that will pay them for their skill.

@@esellanta comes down to where you live. Also just because you can doesn’t mean you can and I’ll explain that in a second so it makes more sense. Not every company is going to pay you a good wage just because it’s hard to do. I’m in Arizona and I’ve been working for the most part in produce warehouses. Your average case is about 65 pounds. Your hourly quota is typically 135-160 cases an hour depends on the company. Low skill = under livable wage. That’s the American mentality you go to school and fight for the few good paying jobs and if you don’t make it your just a lazy piece of shit that doesn’t deserve to pay his bills or support his family. I could go elsewhere sure getting a job flipping burgers is not as easy as it sounds. I’ve applied many many times to various Taco Bell’s, Wendy’s, mc donalds, Burger King. When they see that you have a large amount of experience on another field they will tell you that you are under or over qualified.

What he doesn't show you is getting all those tools together, deflating the tire, getting it off the bead, getting the new tire in place, and prefilling the cheetah to help bead up the new tire, he also didn't replace the valve stem so better hope it doesn't leak. He is kicking ass at the actual switching though.

I am 70 years old . I spent my entire life doing this type of work trailer container overseas cargo container I work for the last American shipping company Sealand. Both of my shoulders are shot my left ankle is bent to the side I was poisoned welding galvanized and I have 15% of my kidneys left both of my knees are bad and my right hip. I'm 70 years old I can't believe I live this long. And I'm doing great everything is good but I will say one thing if I knew I was going to live this long I would not have work so hard. I'd watch my fellow mates and a lot of them would always Slack. Now I wish I was one of those guys. You got to play the long game I did not. Too soon old too late smart as my mother would always say.

@@Schimml0rd I agree yet I wasn't really in that Chain of Thought. I raised myself pretty much since I was 10 and I had no idea how hard you had to work so I work full bore all the time. I would have changed it and not work so hard but I really didn't know how to do that. I sure regret it now.. thanks for the compliment. The one good thing is I'm 70 and still alive. I'm a Christian so I'm ready to go home and excited about it.

Yep a lot of people act like they can just do it thank God I've been doing roadside for like 8 years now When I'm in the zone when I change a tire I've had customer say wow I feel like I pulled into a pit stop on the Indy 500..😀 Thank Jesus Christ for a decent way to make a living and to be a blessing to serve other people

You can't do this with every tire. Only outside tires can be done like that so you are saving the time taking the wheel off and putting it back on. Still, quite impressive. But this was just to show how fast it could be done. He would be in the wheel chair at the end of the day after going this fast for just an hour. It's a tough job doing it like this

For one this is not hard to do. For two if anybody did this all day long, you’d acquire his skills within only a few days. Maybe weeks tops.

@@alexhaes4863 your right it's not hard to do but physically it can wear you down...the most I've changed at one time was 8 on a trailer...im glad i never had to change more at one time...but i did change ten different tires in one night it was 10 to 15 below zero trucks brakes were freezing and stuck tires drag flat...it was so cold i had to heat the inpact wrench on the generator exhaust for every nut sometimes twice...they have anti freeze spray but it was to cold even for that...lets just say that was literally the hardest day of working in my life and i did concrete construction before the tire job...

Well working flat rate you are paid by the tire... as a flat rate tech you get whatever the job "pays" example transmission rebuild may take you 13 hours but only pay you for 5

I don't know much so take this with a grain of salt but I believe it's easy to break beads on truck tyres. Since they're much larger (hence more bead length) and loaded with much higher pressures in operation the beads come pretty loose when the tyre is deflated. It also helps that they're larger because you don't have to flex the rubber as much to break the bead.

He is very slow at changing tires he took 1 minute to change 1 singular semi tire me and my dad work at a tire company named T&W tire and we can both change 8 big ass 85 inch tractor tires like it is nothing and also both in 1:30 on a good day and on a bad day 2:24 seconds i know that cause we repeatedly timed each other

@Shawn Evans wow! Where is that? We were never that low at the Goodyear (Wingfoot) I worked at. When I showed up to a night call it was $150 for the call out. And whatever had to be done... flat repair, tire change, leaky valve stem... etc was additional

To be fair if someone purpose built a machine to specifically change a tyre while on the truck it could probably be quicker. (I know that it would cost tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars more and not really be any more effective than what he's doing so there's obviously no point in making such a machine. Just clarifying I guess.)

holy shit! i do a mix of 19.5 and 22.5s on some stepvans (wheel off on the ground though), and i never thought to use vice grips on the rim! i always used 1 bar with my foot holding it down, and my other foot keeping the bead under the rim while i pry the tire over. definitely gonna have to give that a try, would prevent me getting pissed off when the bar under my foot slips out

Actually in a lot of places like this service like tire changes are extra. Theres generally a flat rate for basic service and a separate rate for things like changing tires etc. Though this depends WHERE he works. Mechanics are paid a set rate at most state owned garages, a service center (not a tire shop) will charge you by the tire for this type of service and actual tire shops.. it depends honestly
