Thanks so much! Was afraid I'd have to pull the shifter out from the other side, glad to see it's going to be an easier job than I thought.

Thanks for the helpful video! I'm preparing to do this same procedure on a '73 cb750k3. Banking on it being basically the same... Couple of Questions: 1 Was there a gasket behind this plate? 2 Did you need to drain the engine oil before you started?

Quick question. I have a 73 CB 750 and I noticed oil leaking when ONLY on the kickstand. Does that sound like a similar issue to what you had?

I'm not as familiar with the 73 CB750, but on this bike, the CB750C, and CB900C in the early 1980's, it will only leak on the side stand. If your bike is like the CB750C, there will be an additional "C" shaped bracket you will have to remove to get to this seal. It goes around the front sprocket. You will need to remove two bolts and one of the engine mount bolts to get it loose.

I have sort of the same thing, I'm just wondering as my bike has even running rich at full throttle, could this have anything to do with the oil seal leaking?
@folsoml

Running rich and the leaking oil seal are completely unrelated.

HOWEVER, Seal leaks on a 2-stroke engine can cause engine performance problems! (This will typically cause lean running due to admitting extra air.)

I watched a video once on removing the rotor where a guy got a phone call in the middle of it, Instead of pausing filming, we got to listen to his side of the whole thing.

Is leaver or a lever the correct prononciation?
@folsoml

Obviously I pronounce it "leaver," but it can be done either way.
