In this video, we show you how to change the playback device in Sibelius 7. This is useful if you want to use a different audio device, such as a different sound card or a MIDI device.
This is designed to be a quick note and was originally conceptualized to jog my memory about how I change the playback device in Avid Sibelius. If there is something that I don't do often and am likely to forget, I make a quick video note. If this note is confusing, feel free to let us know in the comments. We will answer any questions and, if need be, expand this video or make another to clarify or expand on this subject.
Many of the settings in Sibelius are controlled from the File, Preferences dialogue box. However, there are no settings for the playback device in this menu. Instead, go to the play tab in the ribbon and expand out the setup menu by clicking on this little arrow in the corner. Select Audio Engine Options.
Sibelius is a great tool regardless of your overall knowledge of composition. For the novice, it can be used in conjunction with your DAW as a great source for learning to become better at composition. As a seasoned composer, Sibelius can be an indispensable tool, capable of creating a finished score to hand off to an orchestra.
