There is just no overlooking how incredible Murray was as an F1 commentator, regardless of whether he spoke a Murrayism or he was on point during a Grand Prix. The talent, the voice, the emotions, the ability to let you be a part of the race in the comfort of your own home...he had that talent, and it will never be replaced. RIP Murray Walker

I do love that DC, when discussing that faithful weekend, also mentions Ratzenberger...it's so easy to forget him next to Senna and we should never! R.I.P. Murray! Even though I didn't watch him always (being Dutch and having our own coverage) it was always a delight to hear him.

The voice of formula 1. A fatherly figure that guided you through a sport that contained excitement drama and at time tragedy. He connected with his audience and all who met him in a way that came easily and naturally to him. Just a lovely enthusiastic talent and an ultimate gentleman. Met him in 2008 and instantly felt connected to him. Incredible man. I will miss him.

Fitting tribute to a great and passionate man,,,, though Brundle's Sky tribute also had me choked a bit. Any race fan who grew up in the 70's & 80's in most of the English-speaking world heard and felt his love the the sport and the drivers. The Murray-isms were just the icing on the cake. My personal favorite interaction between him an James Hunt was at Monaco: Murray: "And there are flames coming from the back of Prost's car as he enters the swimming pool" ,,, Hunt: "Well,,, that should put them out then". Just wonderful.

Yeah I can totally get what you mean... The way he was able to paint the picture of the race was amazing. I remember watching the Grand Prix where Schumacher won his first Ferrari Championship and the way he described Suzuka was amazing. He really made the venues give them that unique feel to them. His enthusiasm is something we should all take and apply to our passions. What a gentleman

This just came up in my feed again. Good man. I started following the sport in 84, and he was 'F1'. In the 80's we didn't get all the live races and you'd get the season starting in Brazil in those days, on our TV about 10pm. I'd be allowed to stay up to see it, you'd get "The Chain", then Murray saying "Welcome, to, Rio (nod head) de Janeiro (more nods) for 'Grand Prix'! Then you watched Prost, Piquet, Mansell, Senna, Rosberg duke it out in gorgeous cars. It doesn't get better than that 👍🏼

I have watched F1 since around 1985 and the one constant was Murry, he wouldn't always get it right but i took it as someone who was so enthusiastic about the sport his mouth was running a million miles a hour and his brain struggled to keep up but we loved him for it. There a few people who are truly great and will never see the likes again, Michael Jackson, Prince, Freddy, Senna Whitney, Jim Clarke, just a few off the top of my head, Murry is right up there. He made me fall in love with F1, RIP Murry, you are and always will be F1, God bless.

Sorry to be different but his voice used to really annoy me and he always had to be corrected by his co presenter because he made so many mistakes. I was so glad when he retired. F1 is so much better now that we have ex drivers as commentors on the sport, we get all of the relevant and technical information as well, no stupid over the top presenting style with blunder after blunder.
@StrongOneX
3 жыл бұрын
His voice and commentary made the races more alive, flick through the channels on TV and his voice could make anyone watch the rest of the race. Motorsport commentary now is too boring and a bit detached for anyone not already deep into the sport. Particularly noticable when the racing has been really boring for a while.
@honestchris7472
3 жыл бұрын
@@StrongOneX well I disagree, his voice used to really annoy me and he seemed to know so little about the racing, he knew a lot about the races from years previous but he made far too many mistakes to be good, especially with modern technically superior cars, I could imagine him stumbling through a commentary not knowing a thing that he was talking about but ramping up the high pitch with his over the top commentary style. I much prefer what we have now with ex drivers that actually can explain the many technical issue with F1.
