congratulations, you deserve it more than anyone! so hard to pick a favorite, i've watched them all literally hundreds and hundreds of times. they each have their own "feel" and my favorite changes from time to time, sometimes based on the current season, but if i had to pick just one it'd have to be Hiking Crane Mountain. it's the first video i saw from you, right after the wondering woodsman first mentioned you. everything about it blew me away, from the cinematic style, your love of nature attitude, to the music in the background. it was all a perfect blend and i binge watched every single episode after that first one, and been pretty much doin the same ever since. there are alot of good people doin videos but you're simply the best and i can honestly say after almost 3 yrs of watching the videos basically on continual loop every day, sometimes just playing in the background, i have never ever gotten tired of watching them. #natureadventurediscovery

Damn, that may be the nicest comment that I have ever gotten and actually got me a little choked up here. I am very grateful to the Wandering Woodsman for having mentioned me a few times and then to have the privilege to have worked with him later, fantastic. So let me share a little story that relates to the Crane Mountain video. I had returned from the Adirondacks and just finally posted Crane Mountain - which was absolutely one of my favorite hikes ever! - and was settling in for the evening hoping for a comment or two and a few views on the video. I started to notice after a few hours that my subscriber number was going up every time I checked, to the point that I thought it was a mistake on YT's end. Nothing like that had ever happened to me prior. Finally I read a comment where someone said something to the effect of " just came over from the Wandering Woodsman, great video". I clicked on his video that he had uploaded at almost the same exact time from Black Moshannon State Park. Cliff gave me the kindest review and recommendation of my channel that my jaw dropped when I heard him speaking, I literally couldn't believe it. I will never forget that night in my evolution as a youtuber and I owe him a debt of gratitude. Kevin, I am completely flattered and honored by you comments buddy, I appreciate you my man, more than you know...

Viewer engagement is critical to the growth of any channel in my opinion and something you have done masterfully since the beginning and continue to do not just in your videos calling out your “appreciation” but in answering every single comment no matter how many are posted. I not only speak for myself but I’m sure for many others who regularly comment that it is that personal touch along with every visually stunning video you produce that made fans into family of the channel and has created one of the most positive and beautiful communities on KZitem of #natureadventurediscovery enthusiasts. My biased pick for favorite videos would be the Conowingo Islands for many reasons (not just because I’m in it) and unbiased would be the Golden Mile for the sweeping drone shots, ambience, views, and choice to shoot 30fps that popped that trail on what would have been a drab wintery hike and watch that highlight the many small but intentional choices made on each video in its filming, editing, and scoring to bring the viewer into the video and honor the place you’ve filmed by bringing your best to it. Congrats on hitting the 2.5K and growing subscriber milestone and I’m proud to have been a part of a channel early on that I know is going to absolutely explode in the months and years to come!

The whole experience of starting and growing a channel has just been a really positive and gratifying journey. The videos themselves are but one aspect. Overcoming self doubt and my deep introversion, learning from scratch how to edit, use software... Heck even writing emails, taking screenshots, if people knew how technologically uninclined I am they wouldn't believe it. But I just keep learning and pushing forward. The places I have been are incredible but the people I have met has been the real true gift of this whole experience. I remember going from 12-13 subscribers like it was yesterday and being excited for it, so yea it's been a heck of a journey, and I am grateful that you have stuck with me. Your words have inspired me along the way and kept me going at times when I thought I couldn't do this, I'm very grateful...Two great videos, I'm not surprised that you would recall I switched to 30 fps for golden mile, that's some real attention to detail there man! And lastly but certainly not least,, the community of folks that engage with the channel and support me .., I'm truly blessed and thankful to everyone.

My first thought before you said central PA was Shades of Death in Hickory Run State Park. But, there certainly must be some great places in Central PA. So, speaking of waterfalls, I'd have to say my favorite video would be Trexler Nature Preserve. It's a place I hike often as I live only about 15 minutes away. Trexler would actually make a great location itself. Its not too difficult and has many points of interest. That would be an ideal location if it was a bit more centrally located. Most of the channels however would likely be coming from the Eastern part of the state, so hmm... Congratulations on the 2,500+ subscriber number. I am confident that the number will keep on climbing. I assume that you film at 4K...but what is your shutter speed most of the time?
@WALTERZOLNA
6 ай бұрын
Thanks Ron, for the congrats and all of the support over the years. I think shutter speed refers to photography, but for filming, I film at 24frames per second. Most on KZitem shoot at 30fps, and the trend is to go higher and higher with 60fps becoming much more common. I like the look of 24 and I like to be different and stand out. Sometimes I will shoot a particular shot at 120fps if I know that I will be using it for slow motion- higher frame rate creates better, sharper, slow motion shots. 24fps is the standard for Hollywood and motion pictures and is considered the most "cinematic" which is the look and vibe that I want. I'm actually filming in 5.3K now, it's the highest resolution on the GoPro...
@rgdodson
6 ай бұрын
@@WALTERZOLNA Thanks. I did mean frame rate. So far, I take more photographs than I shoot videos, but I keep telling myself that I need to change that. I spend too much time watching "how to shoot video...videos," and I just need to start shooting video footage with my own stuff and learn from doing it, I guess. I also probably think too much about creating "stories" as part of the videos that I am interested in making.

You don’t have to enter me in the contest, but I do want to congratulate you on hitting 2,500, that’s awesome! Thanks for always being an inspiration and driving us to go find awesome things out there! I’ll be in touch shortly about our plans for April. Seems like all is a go! I’ll try my best to make the KZitem meetup. As far as I can tell, we’re free in the beginning of June.

Appreciate the congrats, thanks buddy. You are an inspiration to me as well, we all can learn a little something from each other. I gave a little teaser in the vid of our potential trip, not sure who if any picked up on it but I'm very excited! And it would be great to see you at the meetup too!

Penobscot Mountain in Maine because it encompassed the feeling you get when you crest a summit and natures glory hits you in the face #natureadventurediscovery

Penobscot, as I was in the moment of filming it, was probably the single most powerful and emotional experience I have had on a trail. Im not exactly sure to this day why, but I was just overcome with intense joy and happiness on that hike. Every step of the way the views were incredible and I felt so blessed and grateful to be walking that path... If there is one video I wish more could see I think it is that one... I did my best to produce that video, but somehow the final edit still doesn't do it justice. Thanks Stacy, great to hear from you on this platform 🤗!

Congratulations!! I can’t pick a favorite, there are so many, but I guess the very first video I saw from you was the Catfish Fire Tower one 😊 I think when I subscribed you had like 200 subscribers, so it is awesome to see your channel is growing! #natureadventurediscovery

Yup, I remember that hike and your first few comments on the channel, thanks for sticking with me Eva! Reading all these comments has been like a walk down memory lane, but that was a really great hike. Fire tower, views, a lake, rattlesnake sighting, I'm going to hit some more sections of the New Jersey AT this year hopefully... Good luck in the drawing!

How about Poe alley State Park near State College for the meet up? Some nice trails (Fire Tower Trail?) and beautiful vistas to drive to or hike nearby. Nice amenities at the park and nice little lake.

Congratulations Walter on hitting that milestone! I've been with you for a while, and I'm so glad to see your channel grow, you deserve it, and also, I do enjoy the shorts. My favorite video of yours, and I'll probably be the only one to choose this one, is the Thomas Darling Preserve, which you did a few years ago. I have hiked it many times, and always enjoyed it. #natureadventurediscovery.

Kevin I know you have been supporting me for along time and I am truly grateful!Thomas Darling was one of those hikes I have done that far exceeded my expectations. The drone shots I was able to capture above the wetlands there, are amongst my very favorite drone shots. That is a great nomination for Thomas Darling, those types of under the radar spots are the ones I really love exploring! Thanks for that response and good luck in the drawing!

Congratulations on your milestone. My favorite video has been Hemlock Gorge in Maryland. The filming and music was inspiring. After that video I was inspired to do the hemlock gorge and it did not dissapoint. I live in Maryland so some of your hikes would mean an overnight stay but I am hoping to do more hikes in Pennsylvania and I have started a bucket list. I love your videos and while I like the longer ones I will watch and enjoy your shorts as well. I would love to come to a KZitem meetup if it is not too, too far from the Maryland line. #natureadventurediscovery

Hemlock Gorge was one of the most pleasant surprises of any hike I have done. It really felt like a wild place, and the light rain put a shine on the foliage that made everything really pop. Yea that was a great hike. Hopefully I will figure a location for the meet up in the next month or so...

You have put together some great videos, but some of my favorites are actually from your visit to Acadia. I've been there a few times, so really enjoyed seeing it from your point of view. And you did one or two places I haven't yet made it to, so those will be part of my trip to Acadia in July. #natureadventurediscovery

Yes indeed I remember your comments from that video. What a thrill it was for me to walk along the coast that day. I saw dolphins, so many shore birds, I have never had an experience like that along the shore in New Jersey, a truly special place that really has an isolated wild feel. Thanks for the congrats and good luck in the drawing!

It was a special day to me for a number of reasons, one I will never forget. I had to face my own anxiety and doubts head on, and I did, which was no easy task. I got to meet so many amazing people whose content I follow, live and in person, which was amazing. I was able to not just talk the talk, but "walk the walk", by actually doing something to try and promote the local YT community, something I am tremendously proud of. Not trying to make things all about me here, because it wasn't, it was about all of "us" just expressing my personal feelings on the day! Great choice Ronman and certainly one of my favorites. Good luck in the drawing and hopefully we can recreate the magic this year...

Hi Walter. Enter me into the drawing. My favorite video, and the way I discovered you, was through the video, Awosting Falls, Minnewaska St. Park. I spent many hours photographing Awosting Brook and Falls when I was a graduate student in photography at SUNY New Paltz, back in the 70's. #NatureAdventureDiscovery. Keep up the great work. You should have 10K subs! Your content is great.

A cautionary tale of a solo hiker. Anyone who hikes alone should watch this 25 minute video. Though it happened in the west, there are plenty of places in the East where such things can happen. Stay to the end for the postscript. kzitem.info/news/bejne/zqma1KJra3Z1f6A Safe Hiking!
