I work for Channellock .. I jet blast all the plier cams and jaws.. There's only 2 of us that do that job so if you go and buy some anywhere in the US or 45 countries worldwide either me or him have made them look pretty after heat treat.. they are the best pliers hands down.. And not saying that just because I am an employee. if you could go to the factory and see the processes that go into every pair and the hands on. Real American people that handle every pair. We take pride in what we do.. And they are 100% US made .. Even the rivets and the plastisol that they handles are dipped in.. There are some good factory tours here on KZitem if you wish to see how they are made.

I'm an industrial technician and mostly use Knipex but I'm a huge advocate of Channellock. I've used a Channellock for all kinds of work and they feel better in the hands than Klein and Milwaukee tools. And are made of better steel than Husky, Stanley, Southwire, and Icon. Yeah i think knipex does channellocks and their angled dikes better but most other things channellocks makes i actually prefer and you can buy every plier for like 200 or something. I used to always be really tight with my money. Years ago my buddy made me buy Channellock 8" Diagonal cutter, long nose pliers, and a pair of wire cutter/crimpers for use in a business we were starting. I cringed at spending the money. Later we were in ANOTHER business together and I had lost the key for the chain that locked my ladder on my roof. He takes my 8" diagonal cutters and starts to cut the chain! I was like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?". He cut through it and they were fine. I couldn't believe it. Fast forward to today... 25 years later! I still have all three of those tools and still use all 3 on a regular basis. In the past few years I've been building my collection of Channellock tools at garage and estate sales. Anytime I see them I buy them. I'm really digging the old style slip joint pliers with the lower profile jaws and the arrow pattern on the handles.

I disagree with you. The best pliers in the world is not Channellock. The best pliers in the world is Knipex. All of the pliers you showed in the video can be replaced by only a few Knipex, The Cobra and plier wrench. Knipex is made of special materials that is propriety of the company. The steel is different, the hardness is up to 62 HRC and it has strange property, it has ductility at that level of hardness that make it durable almost forever. The metal is the secret. It's more than just induction hardened! The design accomodate safety and ease of use. But once again the metal that make the different. It is out of this world technology, perhaps from alien (seriously).

+Brad Neiderhiser I had someone earlier explain the difference to me. I wish you would have gotten to me sooner, LOL. They do look very similar to water pump pliers though.

Channel lock all the way. I have some of their pliers from the 1980s that still work as good as new ones. I work on a lot of different things. Small engines, tractors, plumbing, electrical. I am a maintenance man for our Church. Channel lock 440s, a roll of duct tape and a can of WD-40 you could build a bridge....

love my channellock pliers. i have 5 sets of pump pliers (3 v-jaw and 2 standard), a pair of end nippers, and a pair of diagonal cutters. i'll eventually wind up with the whole set of channllock pliers. and everything else i have will be either given away or thrown away.

Im a mechanic and I know exactly what you mean about them not being used very often in that field for some reason. I have a set and absolutely love them but they are like the best kept secret of the mechanic world. Guys don't understand that a lot of the tool truck pliers are actually made by channel lock and you can get them for a much better price. Can't tell you how many times I've looked at other mechanics pliers from tool truck brands and seen the Channel Lock code in the serial number but they'll keep paying those high prices

Your right. I have many channelock pliers. Also have some Matco that ARE actually rebranded channelock. Snap on even used to rebrand them several years ago not sure about these days. Cause I have no idea when was the last time I bought a new snap on tool

I have to say when it comes to why I use snap-on and similar brands when choosing tooling for automotive use is in my case it's my daily job, I want to buy quality tools, one time, and I know I'll never have to purchase the same tool again once I come off the truck with it. they're also engineered to excel in performance for the automotive technician so they lend themselves to the type of work I'm constantly indulging from the jump. That said Channellock is a great company with very high standard for quality. Still, my own preference for pliers in an automotive capacity is Knipex brand. Channellock was a brand I utilized heavily when I worked rebuilding bathrooms & doing constructive plumbing of various types. Great point to be made though, and a good brand to place it on, but I think all tools have strengths and weaknesses by design, even within their own specific categories, (i.e. pliers, water pump pliers, etc.).

MECHANICS BUY TOOL TRUCK BRANDS BECAUSE THE STORE COMES TO YOU YOU DON'T GO TO THE STORE.AND BECAUSE OF THE PERSON TO PERSON '' WARRANTY ''.SOME GUYS BUY BECAUSE OF THE NAME,THE REPUTATION OR PRESTIGE.THE YOUNGER ONES BUY BECAUSE THEY DON'T THINK ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE COSTS OF LIVING LIKE BILLS OR A HOUSE PAYMENT! CHANNELLOCKS ARE GREAT PLIERS FOR A GREAT PRICE AND QUALITY.

for the water pump pliers the real sell for me personal on spending the extra for Knipex cobras is the lack of handle bite on them, every other type of pliers i have used i seem to find a way to pinch the meat of my hand at the base of my fingers when i use them for larger tasks
