Fantastic take on "flat plane" Kevin. What I enjoyed most was the pace of the video. Slow and methodical, showing every cut. It's like therapy after a long day. I'd love to see more of this pace. Is it time to do another fisherman/sea captain? Oh, and happy new year.

I am on my second stab (second piece) at this guy. It's funny how, as you are working on the pc, you are not liking how it is coming out. Then you set it down and look at it a few days later, you say, Wow, that looks better than I thought it did. Hence, sometimes, I am too critical of my carvings. (Of course the more you practice the better they come out.) Also, I would like to also say Kevin, your fine detail cuts add so much reality/character to the carving. There is sooo much to learn from you in each one of you pieces! I can't thank you enough!! I did have an easier time with you fisherman than this guy, but it's all good!!

Thanks Paul. Practice is key but it's also good to be critical of your own work. In my opinion it will help make you a better carver. Keep on carving

Hi Kevin, another great carving. Did you use a piece of select pine for this one? It seemed like it wasn’t rough pine. I want to wish you & yours a Happy New Year. I hope that sometime later in the year we can have a time to sit and talk about carving. I really enjoyed the couple of times I visited with you last year. Thanks.

Hey Bruce. Happy New Year to you and your family too. It's 3/4" pine. I'm sure we can meet up later on. Thanks

Thanks Wayne. It's about a 50 year old fish knife. I modified it a little
