One of my favorite moments as a cast member was a day I was getting ready to leave. I had clocked out and was getting on the bus to head to West Clock after an extremely long and exhausting day. Mickey and Minnie got on the bus. Mickey helped Minnie on and then they stood there (heading to Toon Town). Every one of the completely exhausted cast members started to smile. You could see the tiredness, the frustration of a long hot day and suddenly, it didn't seem to matter. We were all waving at Mickey and Minnie, who were waving back at us. You could literally FEEL the mood get lighter and as they got off the bus, the rest of us (and the bus was PACKED!!) were yelling goodbye and they waved. For me, that was the ultimate preserving the magic - its not just for the guests, its for all of us!

I read some of those books for a project in college. When I met Mickey and Minnie, it was super hot, so like ever five minutes the character host would say Mickey and Minnie were going on a cheese break. For those of you who are truly curious about the air conditioners in character's heads, here's a real answer for you. We guests don't have air conditioners in our heads. So they don't have them in theirs. They don't....they....REALLY don't. Like, seriously. All we have is our body's natural biological temperature regulation. Same for them. That's IT! So, as you can imagine, for a person or animal with as thick of skin or fur coat as they have, it can get super duper unbearably hot!!! So bottom line, if YOU are melting in the heat, so are they! But bless 'em, they want to meet with us so badly and give us a magical time that they will gladly endure it with a smile! It's truly admirable! Heck, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that applies to ALL cast members!

Another great episode! I really wish that the people who go to Disney were going there for the magic. Unfortunately there are so many people who are rude and obnoxious there that it spoils it for those of us that love it. I can't believe some of the things that go on now. Disney has been such a big part of my life. I remember the original Mickey Mouse Club. I grew up watching Walt on TV. I was there the first year WDW opened. I was 14, and it was pure magic. I didn't get to go back until I took my own daughter in 1985, but I've gone every 2 or 3 years since then. My husband and I were just there in April celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary. It is still the happiest place on earth to me!

I went on the Tower of Terror at MGM when it was still brand new, and I'm not sure what was going on with the cast member doing the intro but it cracked me up. Enjoy the ride!" :D

Thank you so much for saying this! It's so important for me to just escape and become a part of that immersive world. It looks like such a great time that I'm really looking foward to experiencing it first-hand. I'm 17 now, and I may go this year or next. But honestly, since I've never been, I just want to throw all caution to the wind and just totally be myself and talk to/meet the characters that have helped me become who I am today. I'd never be able to talk to any of the characters if I thought they were just actors, are you kidding? I'd br a shy, blushing mess. But, becuase they're not, they're just old friends that I get to meet again after knowing them since childhood, it's suddenly not so scary. That's why I love that all the cast members keep the magic alive, even outside of the parks. Thank you for that! 😊

I definitely agree with you in terms of integrity. There is a time and place for facts and the same goes for fantasy. A person who goes spewing backstage knowledge in the park, while they are knowledgeable in terms of factoids, obviously don't understand the point. Sure, pretty much everybody knows the basics of what goes on behind the scenes, but those with imagination still feel the magic.

This reminded me of an idea I had a while back. Have a show where it's the people who LIVE in Disneyland (or Walt Disney World) going about their lives and stuff. Like, cowboys hanging out at the Golden (or Diamond) Horseshoe, how about the barbers at the Main Street barber shop, or what about the railroad workers having a story? The possibilities are pretty much endless!

When I was younger (teenager), I always was interested in the how, like "how does this work?". Anymore, I'm still not as interested in the story - that's just me - but I do NOT want to ruin anyone else's opinion, so as far as I'm concerned, that IS an ESPN antenna because I don't want anyone who chooses to live in the story to believe otherwise just because I think that's not the case - if for no other reason than common decency. And as far as I really know, that may very well be Prince Charming's TV antenna.

I think the ''dont break the magic'' is common for al parks with characters [yes it also counts for rides sometimes] The only times I can make excepions to the rule is when kids are REALLY scared/anxious of something/someone. While I love to know the nitty gritty of things, as I love to know how things work in general, I am not some monkey's rear end. I have a few younger siblings, an I understand and respect the idea of preserving the magic for them, I don't want to steal away that joy they have when they meet their Disney heroes! If I want to learn about the behind the scenes, I won't approach someone on duty about it, I'll find workers on forums, or ask them if they would be cool with questions when off duty and away from situations that could ruin it for others. Sure, I'm interested in how they work the pyrotechnics for the firework shows at the castle, I would like to know what goes into the choreography, learning to play the roles, etc... But I'm not going to let my curiosity dull the sparkle in a child's eye, even if that child is well into their decades! Thats a lovely video and I always love interacting with cast members in costume and being in characters - Whenever that happen at a theathre I enjoy myself a lot. But I also enjoy the "actors world" and how things works, what makes theyre world tick so to say. And I always love to give those wonderfull performers credits at the curtain call cermony when theyre work are done and the magic ends for the day. Thus I feel sad when some theatres and tv shows does not give theyre performers credit for theyre job - Even if I sure can recognize the in universe story reason behind it. And trust me - Ive been around enough performers during my theatre fan days to understand the dont break the magic thing by heart. But by being a theatre nerd I also see every one working behind the scenes to create the magic. Makes me wonder what happens if a cast member happens to ran into friends, family and simular during the working day? Are they understood with the dont break the magic thing or do you have "Family rooms" behind the scenes where the cast members can say hi to his or hers friends? Johan.

I don't see myself ever living in Florida or Southern California again, so I doubt it would happen at Disney. And highly unlikely while I'm making videos because it would be considered a conflict of interest. Would I like to? Sure. But I honestly don't know if it will happen again. For the Espn cable, I see an opportunity to be funny. Henry (apparently that’s Prince Charming’s real name), like his father, loves watching horse races-the “sport of kings”-and if he can’t be there in person of course he’ll want to watch on Espn. Only one question-why Espn? As far as I’m aware, Espn hasn’t carried horse racing (or chariot racing) in a few years. (Not saying this to ruin the magic, but it’s kind of dated.)

I once had to call a reporter and request he withdraw part of his article for breaking the magic.

Mid August. We'll be in Tennessee next week visiting Gatlinburg and Dollywood, and it'll be getting caught up and ready for school that next week. :-)

HEY - if the princess gets the castle, at least the princes can get some ESPN. XD I totally agree. ^^ After safety, magic and the belief is what keeps a lot of people going. It's what makes Disney parks stand out from everything else in the world. No matter what, you ARE a part of a greater story. (However I would also like to disagree. * laughs * I LOVE knowing, and the more I know, the more I appreciate the work and ' magic' that went into it. For example; I know how and what triggers the Indiana Jones ride. I found out completely by accident. Without spoiling it, because I'm not that kind of person, I was impressed on what triggers certain events, and , to me at least, I am even more interested in how amazing the rides function. (Let's just say; NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE RIDES, people. ) I love learning about the inner workings- it is so impressive to see what is put together to create the most memorable rides in the world. But that's just me. XD 🐺 And that being said, it's not needed to enjoy everything. I found out about Indiana Jones and I thought that was amazing! But it will never change that knowing how things work or not will factor in how much you enjoy the parks. Just enjoy them for what they are, and if you happen to find something out, great! But it will never change how absolutely amazing the park is I hate the people who say 'It's just a puppet' when I used to do that as well. Really? Shut up, dude. (Sorry for the edit: it autocorrected the wrong word)

I can remember that myself and my brother could not figure out how to get to the exit of Animal Kingdom (outside Yak & Yeti Restaurant) . I asked a Photographer to help, he said that he was heading that way, but he actually walked us to 500 yards from the exit and then he walked back to his position. Would you have ever done the same?

yep, absolutely. did it many a time. that's actually a pretty normal deal- if the cast member is able to leave their position and a guest is in need, they are encouraged to walk them to wherever.

They don't in the parks. But when they're hiding away they do. Tigger is a real blabbermouth sometimes when he's not out in the parks. :-P
