This is my full time job now lol. I always squeezed in a video between work in the past. Thanks for watching!

Been considering buying some super caps to make an automatic vehicle jump/boost box. I was thinking about incorporating a boost circuit to harvest energy from a mostly flat vehicle battery that would charge the caps up to a voltage capable of starting the vehicle. It would then automatically switch over to dump this energy back into the vehicle battery terminals, while simultaneously signaling to a person behind the ignition to attempt to start the vehicle. I know such a device can be purchased premade, but I figured it would be a fun project. I would probably also include a hand crank generator, in case the battery is too flat to charge. I was looking at "Green-cap" caps but this video, among a few others has shown that I should avoid these. Any other cheap brand you'd recommend? Otherwise, I might just pay the premium for better branded caps

Sounds like you have progressed about as far as I have on those topics. I don't have space or funding for serious supercapacitor projects so I am way behind other KZitemrs in that aspect. I did make this video though on using a hand crank generator to charge a supercapacitor bank called "Mini portable hand crank electric generator charging series supercapacitors demonstration" kzitem.info/news/bejne/w2iLnpWsanZ_g4o . If I bought capacitors for a serious project and needed good ones, I would consult the manufacturer claims (datasheet) and also read the customer and other reviews to look for complaints or praises on particular aspects important to my project and then compare prices and then charge/discharge them to test them out. Vehicle batteries and starter systems rely on high currents for a short period of time. A weak lead acid battery mostly suffers in being able to provide high enough current to power starter but probably still stores a lot of charge, which is why it is used to charge supercapacitors relatively slowly and then the 2 of them together can provide the current needed to start the vehicle over that short period of time. Everything being able to handle the current involved at each stage is the most important factor to prepare for.

The supercaps have lower internal resistance than those dinky thin alligator wires. If you got them cheap from some noname shop then they can have something like 1 Ohm and it's not because they are badly crimped or soldered but because manufacturer cheaped out on the wire. Not recommended for any serious work or measurement.
