I never knew he spoke posh. I'd heard he was an intellectual. I remember him as a strongly built, vigorous player who liked to throw his weight around - ruck-rover like Barassi - who helped sink Essendon in '68. A rebel too...often clashing with his mentor Barassi.

Gee if all footballers were even remotely this interesting ; articulate, amusing, ascerbic, sarcastic and charming.

I played Independent Schools Football(tried to) and forgetting which college played for (Scotch in Launceston possibly) but he took a screamer over me that required therapy to get me back on the field. Great player.

Brent Croswell was an absolutely brilliant footballer , and a highly-gifted athlete. In this interview, he reminds me of a young Barry Humphreys in both persona and wit !

Wudja believe Brent was an English master at Barry's secondary school alma mater Melbourne Grammar...of course decades after Barry left. At Grammar they only have the very best teachers, and Brent's footy ability would've come second to his teaching ability.

A fantastic watch. It was generally accepted at the time that David Williamson based the character of Geoff Hayward in "The Club" upon Brent Crosswell and you can see many elements in this.

Robert Flower thought he was called Tiger because of his courage. It was because he called people "tiger" as he didn't know their name. Crosswell said of Flower "once you had beaten him in a personal duel everything else smacked of anti climax."

As a sufferer I can only say that as seen here, it does not change your personality or wit. Unfortunately the dizziness, tinnitus and nausea are never ending and absolutely wretched. Good luck and good health Brent.

As a person who was layed out for 8 months with constant vertigo caused by a neck injury that eventually healed itself, my heart goes out to all people who suffer balance disorders !!!!!!!! Believe me it is the closest thing to hell on Earth a human being can experience, as well as all the other wierd and wonderful side effects that go along with it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw Brent play his first VFL/AFL game. Still the best from a first gamer that I have seen, Sam Walsh last year was excellent too.

According to the book Inside The Footy Show, Brent's Ménière's disease flared up big time minutes before he went on air (which makes this even more impressive)

Tough, uncompromising but also highly skilled. General consensus is if there were Norm Smith Medals around when Brent was playing, he could have won 3 or 4.
