On June 8, 2011 Charles "Chuck" Edwards sat down at his home in Haxtun, Colorado and told of his experiences in World War II. Chuck, born in Lincoln, NE and raised in various towns in Nebraska and Colorado as the family moved with his father's job, served in the Army Air Corps. Within days of arriving at basic training and no with no training, he shipped off to Australia where he formed up with the 403rd Bomb Squadron, 43rd Bomber Group of the 5th Air Force. He served in jungle bases in Australia and New Guinea. He eventually rotated state-side and served with the 1st & 3rd Air Forces. He also married his childhood sweetheart Ethelyn. After his service, he would go on to have a 41-year career in the grocery business. Chuck and Ethelyn were married for 52 1/2 years until her passing. They have two sons, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild (at the time of this interview).
