CHARLES-MARIE WIDOR’S Mass for Two Choirs and Two Organs, Op.36
First performed in 1878 at Saint-Sulpice, Paris, where Widor (1844-1937) spent 63 years as “provisional” organist, the work featured nearly 200 singers divided into two choirs, as well as Saint-Sulpice’s iconic Cavaillé-Coll organ. The Casavant-Freres organ in St. Bernard’s main church served as the Grande Orgue, and the Clairvaux Hall organ was the voice of the Orgue de Choeur.
