If anything you would have seen him it would have been outside on a plantation field.. in the heat and humidity with a huge crowd of people and he would have been kicking up dust and you could hear him clearly because his voice carried for a long distance.. but don’t be late because he performed on time and was dressed very sharp…

You know if it wasn't for. Charley Patton and son house and bukka white and the rest of the old blues guys there would not be Robert Johnson and rest of the cats from years gone by I use to say the same thing too but I also play the blues too so that is why I say that my friends ok

I think you’re mistaken Charlie talking in between playing on his songs for Alan Lomax.. he’s just talking as he’s playing guitar but Alan Lomax I don’t think recorded with him. Charlie did go up to Indiana and Wisconsin and later New York to record but it wasn’t under the Lomax recordings.. it was an actual independent recording label that said “the more songs you can record the more money there is in it for you” (pretty much) but by the time he was recording in NY the Great Depression hit and small record companies were going bankrupt..

To me they sound completely different. You can hear the native American musical influence clearly in Charley Patton. Down the dirt road blues sounds almost like native American vocalization with an early blues guitar. So different!
