When I was a youngster myself, I had a really hard time learning to read… I believe I “started” the book with the problems… I remember sitting at my desk at school trying to read a reading assignment pamphlet… and just putting into me, voicing a desire to be able to read… I still remember that particular moment, with the assignment (just not what was written as that was a long time ago), and that moment, it seems clarity entered me. I just knew how to read, and from that moment on, I got really good at reading, and I simply reopened this book’s ok, and read it cover to cover../ my first full read book.

What I don't understand is, the og movie was set in the 70s, so all four grandparents would have been entitled to a pension and disability benefits, the mother would be entitled to unemployment benefits, the whole family would be entitled to housing benefit and free beds on the welfare fund plus charlie would be entitled to a free school lunch every day during term time and during the holidays due to coming from a low income family Of course the og book was set in England. I've never heard this version before

The original film was supposed to be set in England but was actually filmed in Munich, Germany. Well technically West Germany if you want to be exact. I think it was much cheaper to film there. Apparently Roald Dahl was very disappointed with the final film because of the script not sticking to the original book. That's why the follow up The Great Glass Elevator was shelved and not made into a film. To my knowledge I still think this book has yet to be filmed. It might be true about Dahl being less than happy with the film but it seems strange because Roald Dahl was the screen writer. All seems like a made up anecdote to me.

Thank you so much for the memories.🙂 I consider myself a book purist, so the change of the movie from the book should have upset me. However, the movie was/is really good & I love the original with Mr. Gene Wilder, therefore, I didn't mind Hollywood's rendition. What still gets me is when Mr. Wonka mentions that one day he'll be dead and he needed someone to take over his factory. 😞 This was so much fun listening. 💯💐

When you really think about it it is quite a coincidence that Charlie was the only good kid to find a Golden Ticket while the other four we're all selfish greedy and mean
@robbiewalker2831
6 ай бұрын
Though, to be fair, the 1970s version made Charlie win because he asked for a Wonka bar to give to his grandfather, which is a selfless act, and is rightfully deserved. In a way, Grandpa Joe singing that it’s his ticket kinda makes sense, since Charlie bought the bar for his grandfather, and it just so happens to have a golden ticket.
