The great Charlie playing some delightful Novello classics. with a 1930s advert for effect.78rpm.England, great composers 40s,30s,romance, love,West End,Theatre.
When one looks at the number of years ago comments here were made, it shows how far we have degenerated in the world of music. We have not preserved the genius of Songwriters and their glorious melodies of yesteryear.

They were a standard part of the Decca catalog in the days when record collectors bought particular artists regularly. Decca didn't have a big catalog, most of the English orchestras were signed by EMI and it managed to loose it's American Decca company

I was born in Bognor Regis Sussex in England where Charlies had a summer residence and was lucky to see him on a number of occassions and hear him play. Magic.

What beautiful melodies. Sorry to have been born too late to remember them in my own childhood. Although my dad used to play some if them on our piano so their spirit lives on with me. Absolutely wonderful!! Thank you for posting this.

Charlie Kunz had a very distinctive style of piano playing. Most enjoyable to listen to.

Wonderful music and rhythm. remind me of youthful dances at the show ground pavilion. Oh that someone could find a way to expose our children to the joys of such dancing, singing loving friendships.

I was only four when I first heard Charlie Kunz on a 78 rpm record and played on the family's Decca gramophone. That was in 1946. I have only recently come across an LP that was released in 1960 and playing the same melodies.. Still a lovely touch. It certainly brought back memories.

What a lucky person Daddyclive is! I heard that he lived in Middleton and toured with his own grand piano transported in a pantechnicon. Is that true? Oh how I wish some of the modern musicians would listen & learn from Charlie. Less is more was never so apparent! Thanks Charlie RIP

The way that Charlie plays will never go out of style...20p at a garage sale means nothing. Cezanne, Bierstadt, and any number of other of the world's finest artists have been "found" the smae way....

I think you will find his albums in the 60s and 70s sold in large amounts, Decca issued 3 LPS in the 70s. Today his cds still sell very well, due to the fact his playing is timeless, so HMV inform me, If you look on Amazon you can see the figures, thanks for your comment.

@Daddyclive .Interesting you lived in Bognor. I lived at Brighton between 1942 and 1945. I grew up listening to Charlie Kunz and had several of his 78;s.
