@@datadavis ya seeing as the crankshaft nearly hits the crank case every time it comes around on the down stroke. It helps the whole crank case is wrapped with a delcron crankcase that was machined to wrap around the whole production cases. @@datadavis ya it was crazy expensive, especially being that it was a fairly new and rare thing when my dad did it. He actually bought a set of true delcron cases to run the bike and test it and a delcron set to re enforce the stock cases because it had to be factory cases and factory heads to run in the vintage class for the world record. If I remember right he spent about 15-18k for both the external case and the actual case just to use for initial testing.

@newagetojo What's more relevant is that Alp's bike is 650 cc & Burt's bike was near to 1,000 cc. Alp's bike is 1950's triumph design. If he cracks 200 mph that will be an outstanding achievement. Alp is just 9 mph behind Burt's record not 39 mph ? (176 mph vs 184 mph) & they are racing in different classes due to the engine capacity differences) You have to compare apples with apples not apples with bananas ? Burt's bike at Bonneville was not a side valve motor but a self made over head valve conversion. He used ideas from top performing UK bikes of the era such as Velocette, Norton & AJS. His engine in 1967 had no resemblance to the original side valve 1920 engine apart from retaining the V twin configuration.

Yes, but also, the driver needs to be 'license approved'. They won't just ALLOW you to show up and run flat out, if they suspect you can go 400 mph ...or 200 mph ... you have to run some 'licensing runs' to make certain the bike AND rider are ready. For instance, you don't want to find out your bike doesn't lean right, push right, turn right when you go past 196 mph ......... it happens .......

Burt Munro took a Indian that was good for 50 MPH & made it himself to do over 200 MPH & HE USED PUMP GAS .to bet Burt if you have a 100 mph bike you are going to have to do over 400 MPH TO DO WHAT BURT DID //

@@hunterpetrovich1460 go read the facts about Burt Munro bike ,he got a new Indian 600 cc side valve ,made his own over head cam to twin over head cam 4 valves , made his own con-rods bores , pistons, crank , lay shaft , turned 2 speed to 3 speed made his own body ,wheels tell me how much ALP made by hand on his bike running top fuel . the Triumph 650 TWIN WAS GOOD FOR 120 MPH on pump gas factor ..ALP has a long way to go to bet Burt. Burt did it in his own shed by his own hands from 1920 to the 1960s ..there were no CNC MACHINES THEN no factory hot bits ..

stephenmwyatt2 respectfully... he actually did, his top speed was 182 mph on one of record runs. It didn’t register for the record because you have to keep the speed for to record an average mile along with they take an average of two record runs that make your record. Look at SCTA records he hit 170.833 that’s an average of 2 runs. nebula.wsimg.com/a6665598e317565188e567741cb0fe4c?AccessKeyId=1B489604A3781742F233&disposition=0&alloworigin=1
