Outstanding! I rode behind her once on an NRHS run from Chicago to Fort Wayne in 1987 (or thereabouts).

In the early 90s, it would come by my house and when we heard the whistle, the whole family would race to the tracks. Now I get to share the experience with my kids. Thanks for watching!

is It just me, or is anyone "almost" moved to tears at the sight of her beautiful grace over theses rolling scenic hills of VA? She was designed and constructed for this very purpose, this type of terrain is in her blood... she has come home once more, and seems to be very "HAPPY" here

The 611’s streamline design is a rarity. It’s amazing just how much power these steam engines have! Thanks for watching and sharing!

@@jeepadventures1339 with the T one coming back there’s also a possibility of resurrecting some of the best streamliners America had in the steam age. Plus I’d say 1218 would’ve looked good on this line to if she didn’t get screwed along time ago

Now there is some of the speed I wanted to see 611 running add again. I’d say the Buckingham branch should host 611 every year. If only 1218 wasn’t a mess right now and operational again she could possibly run on this line to

@@jeepadventures1339 my pleasure 611 is definitely a locomotive I want to see in person one day fully steamed up. And I’ve got an opportunity come in this Saturday in Hillsdale Michigan. I’m riding on the fall color excursion with 765 as a special invite with one of my managers and her son. And as for 1218 there is a way to get her running again but it’s a real long shot but it is a possibility because I know the right group I can get her running but it’s a pity I don’t live in the city where The workshop is stationed

Great shots! I volunteered as car host, etc. on these runs (although I would rather chase!) and recall seeing the "orange jeep"! Since I was riding, I could not tell how fast she was running. Do you have any speed estimate?

Something seems to be bugging me. Is it just me or did 611 have a whistle change when she was at Strasburg before coming home because something about her whistle sounds different?

@@jeepadventures1339 Not a problem. But one thing I can say for sure is that I could’ve sworn 611 had gotten a replacement whistle while she was in Pennsylvania because looking back at some of the videos in the steam program and when she traveled to Strasbourg her whistle sounded perfect at a good pace and when she had that little whistle battle with locomotive 90. And the sound it’s making now there’s gotta be something different

@@jeepadventures1339 so I just learned that 611‘s whistle is not her whistle and she did have a whistle change during the farewell tour at Strasburg but it turns out the whistle she’s had since was never original whistle. It turns out the cleaners had taken sole possession of her whistle even after Bob retired sometime after restoring her. All this time the whistle I’ve heard her blow That I thought was really cool was never her whistle in the beginning

How interesting! Thanks for looking into that and letting me know. There’s nothing like the sound of a steam engine’s whistle!

@@jeepadventures1339 Believe it or not, back in 2015, 611 first wore Cheri George’s Hancock long-bell whistle, which allegedly came from UP 838. Afterwards, in 2016, it was removed and replaced with Scott Lindsay’s standard Hancock whistle until after 2022. Right now, as of today, 611 is wearing a newly acquired Hancock whistle, which sounded almost similar to its 1990s whistle.
