So then, when the guy goes out and tries to date a woman, they get angry and annoyed at women because they won't put up with their negative personality. Of course, it's good for a mother to give their child unconditional love, but too much unconditional love can be a problem.

Honestly, I relate to this guy somewhat. Not the whole insane obsession with inceldom, but the nihilistic depression, the loneliness, there's more then just the sexual aspect. It's an aimless thing. A way of seeing what is sold to you as the idealized life that you're supposed to go through, and feeling like you're missing out on it, like you were not only too late, but can't rewind time to go back on the path. Hell, I'm 18, still young, literally entering life, but a mixture of covid and slacking off has functionally left me with no friends to note, stuck online. It's a horrible feeling. Obviously empathy can only extend so far, and you can empathize with the person in the moment before they truly fall off the deep-end, (like a criminal who was assaulted during their youth), but once they reach a certain period, where they have full agency over their actions, and they choose evil, then they deserve whatever comes to them. Life in prison, etc.

I think a lot of people don't realize (or maybe they're too far in it) that these are normal feelings everyone has to some degree. I'm not saying this to lessen or devalue what you and others feel, just saying it so you know you're not alone. Everyone feels lonely or regretful or wishes they'd done things differently. Everyone wonders what their purpose in life is and feels like they're doing it wrong or not doing enough. Most people feel like they were promised that if they did x y and z, they'd have life figured out and get all they want. And they don't realize that most of us are figuring it out as we go along. And yeah, a lot of that sucks, but it does get better. Ultimately, we all choose what to do with those feelings and how to react. Sometimes it gets better with time, sometimes it gets better with your own actions, sometimes both. But like most things in life, if you put in a little bit of effort, are kind, and your heart's in the right place, things have a way of working out (and you can only really see that with time and perspective). You're young and you can and will make more friends, I promise. :) You can make friends through the internet and through work, school, religion, volunteering, hobbies, vacation, etc. Just figure out what you like doing, and you'll make friends that way. Or you can reach out to old friends or acquaintances and try to hang out and get to know them better. Most people are actually really happy to hear from other folks who seem interested in them and their lives as long as there wasn't some catastrophic falling out. Best wishes!

I'm really surprised on some levels to read this, since I just from some comments from you above, and they were eloquent, intelligent, sensitive, and displayed a great deal of maturity and potential. You clearly have a bright mind! So I was really surprised to read that you're only 18. Which is a really, really good thing! As someone now in her early 40s, I'd like to share a classic song from my era: 'Baz Luhrman's Sunscreen'. Was a big hit when I was a little younger than you, and over the decades, the wiseness of the words only resonate with truth even more so. It's so normal for many people in your age range of every generation to go through these periods, especially when first entering adulthood. A lot of pressure to "choose your best subjects, choose your career path, maximise you potential, NOW NOW NOW!" and that was even the case long before social media or covid were considerations. Which are going to be a huge impact on the generations like yours that have been hit the hardest by the world locking down during crucial years in your life. But that time is not lost, it's not too late, and never is! Find and do things that interest you, and find the people you feel safe and comfortable with -build human connections slowly and with shared interests, without isolating yourself to a specific 'tribe', especially not on a curated and automated Internet that creates echo chambers. Travel and education both broaden the mind, and neither have to be formal nor expensive. If you're willing to learn new things, and extend your comfort zones, and show genuine connection to and interest in other people (as people, and not as goals or with a purpose for them in mind), and you'll always find some good things in life, even when you go through the inevitable bad things too.

There is more context to this story that I previously was never aware of in the case of Jake Davison. I understand that feeling of missing out on fun in life or missing chances to get into relationships (heck, in my case, it was against my will, because my parents didn't allow me to date until I was 18). But it still doesn't excuse you going out on a killing spree. On a side note though, while what Jake did was despicable, don't dismiss all of what he says. Something that a writing mentor of mine once told me is that when you write your villains, DO NOT be afraid to make them right about something. Make them have a point. One thing that I did agree with Jake on was honestly not terrible, and, dare I say, actually potentially helpful. At 19:06-19:27, I agree with him that there should be a rehab program for incels to "build confidence and self-esteem, and getting them out of their depressed mindset," and I also agree with "(taking) away their computers, put them into therapy, and detox them from social media." Social media, despite its benefits, really does do more harm than good, I feel. I do disagree with the idea that the government should get involved, as the more you turn to politics, the more that everything we do gets inevitably politicized where politics may not have previously been present or even mentioned. Not everything we do is political, after all. Anyway, going back to the point, as culpable and heinous as incels like Elliot Rodger, Alek Manassian, and Jake Davison were in who they were and what they did, it is still not good or helpful to mock incels. Most of these people - whether shy or narcissistic, meek or angry - have a hatred for themselves, have low self-esteem, and/or many of them are in pain at their own failings or their life situations or circumstances. They're not two-dimensional characters. Everyone has a little more to them than we think. Mockery of incels only reinforces their anger at themselves and at the world. We need to help them, offer consolation. Also, I know there's people who can and want to help them, but - and I say this to you incels out there - we can't help you until you're also willing, wanting, and ready to help yourselves. We can't help you if you won't let us. I just want you to know that hope is not lost, and your situation is not beyond repair, and that someday you will find that special someone. You just have to trust that there is a time and place for everything. I've been insulted a lot; called a parasite and unequal for being a guy on disability income, and I know I don't deserve that, but those are just bad individuals. Not everyone has to like everyone, and just because I got dealt a bad hand doesn't mean that people have to accept it. I'm not entitled to anyone. I hope some day I can find someone who accepts me for me, but at the end of the day, that means making myself out to be the best I can be. I have things I want in a partner (and don't want) as well, and that's just how we as humans are. If you want a partner with x y and z traits, then you've gotta be able to make yourself someone said partner would consider being with. I get that being disabled, it can be hard to, but being an incel doesn't help anyone, including yourself. At the end of the day, while I do wonder if I'll ever find someone special, if not, at least I have my wonderful friends and family I'm grateful for. Remember to get outside, get some sunshine and sunlight on your skin. It does wonders. I will say that the world is unfair to disabled guys and there's a lot of stereotypes that still exist... But the world isn't fair to begin with. You work with what you've got and make the best of it that you can.

In the UK, it is impossible to get a handgun that is not muzzle-loaded unless you obtain one on the black market. The only firearms one is legally permitted to obtain are rifles (very, very difficult unless you are a gamekeeper or hunter - even then, you need to jump through fiery hoops) and single firing shotguns for skeet, trap or game shooting.

Your personality can really overcome a looks deficit. If you’re unattractive and a prick, you’re not going to attract anyone. I’m not attractive, but I tell really good dad jokes and that usually gets me somewhere. Been dating consistently since I was a teenager, I’m 33 now. Only been single a couple of months at a time at most.

Hi, Kyle. Good video, thank you for covering it. My heart goes out to the family and friends of all affected. One constructive criticism: The phrase "half-mast" only applies to the sails of ships. If it is a half-lowered flag being discussed, it's called "half-staff." Most people get it wrong, I know. Just think of Flagstaff, Arizona to remember it. Hugs. -V

At the start, seeing him talk, describing a lot of what I feel - I could empathise with him to a degree. The instant the gun came out I lost all that empathy. Should've turned it on himself if he was so miserable - which I tried too. I guess good thing most people here don't have firearms or I'd not be here to comment. I'm not happy - I flip from being content to being angry. But I have already accepted my fate and it's not society's fault that I fail. I enjoy life most days and I take each day as it comes.

I feel like this is going to continue happening until something is done. It is an issue that's not being taken serious enough and will continue to only worsen as time goes on. I hope one day lawmaker's can find ways to put a stop to it, but I honestly doubt that's ever going to happen just as with so many horrible things that still run rampant all across the world almost unchecked to this day.

Similar to elliot r. Both monsters and both chose not to get help but rather throw their money out the window and pitty themselves. Also the audacity to think you are entitled to OWN someone is just beyond. I guess these two were never been told 'no' as a child and likely never learned that rejection is part of life. Btw both them had company in the beginning but pushed those people away, both them focused on the one thing they couldn't get instead of bettering themselves.

When the title said ”chasing kids” I thought the children survived. Do you perhaps think you could just put in an extra warning when it’s about children, just so I know to avoid them because now I can’t sleep without thinking about it 😞

Its so hard to understand . Where did he get these ideals about young love? Or even people? He had total conviction in his ignorance. Exactly like his idea of women - its so mixed up. Its a shame he didnt actually get some therapy but who knows if he'd have listened. The thought of that poor father desperately trying to shield his child is particularly heartbreaking but its all sad really & so senseless.

Being audhd will never be an excuse, but I can see how being neurodivergent can make someone more susceptible to these ideologies. It's definitely isolating to be on the spectrum, but always remember there are successful, fulfilled neurodivergent people who exist. It's not impossible to find love, and it's not an excuse to hurt others. He made his own choices, and he's disgusting for it. Ultimately, he and the systems in place to help protect people are the ones to blame.

Most people think the problem is "guns". Elliot Rodger murder with a knife as many as he murder with three guns, Minassian with a van even more than Rodger's total victims. Removing the weapons would only lead to alternatives, it would not prevent anything from happening again. Isn't the means that makes someone a murderer, motive is. Of course giving someone with motive the means it's not helpful... ps. For the same reason guns dont stop someone from commiting a crime. So even at countries that allow weapons for self defense criminality is a huge problem. In reality guns are kind of a neutral factor when it come to crime rate, other factors are way more relatable.

Bro watched an American Pie movie once and based his whole life on that. Teenagers do their homework and play minecraft or go watch pg movies. Most 15 year olds don't go to drugged up sex parties, and those who do are typically ridiculed and looked down on by their peers. I had a classmate who was living this guys dream, she had a fake ID and carried condoms in her bag. Guess what, nobody in class liked her because she was a child hasbin, nobody wanted to be around her and the only "friends" she had were a few drugged up creeps and weirdos. This dude complains how he still lives in the same house and everything is the same... I mean yea, welcome to life. This is how most people in their early 20s live, most young people still live with their parents, they go to work and have hobbies outside work. You can sit and complain about it or you can try to have a more positive outlook, because life won't change a whole lot you have to enjoy all the things you already have.

I’m not understanding why our government doesn’t just create a system where every gun owner MUST have a background check done on them. And I’m not talking bout a simple google search… I mean like LEGITIMATE DEEP SEARCH of who exactly is getting this weapon. I know it sounds like a lot but I feel like we can probably try and prevent certain people from obtaining weapons and just using them for heinous reasons

I honestly don't get how some people end up like Jake. I mean I can relate to him on never having a girlfriend (and I'm a few years older than Jake was) and obviously I know that it's probably a bit strange that a guy at my age has never had a girlfriend. But I like to think that I don't let it ruin my life, like Jake let it ruin his, and my advice to any possible Incels that might read this comment is don't fall into the same pitfalls that Jake fell into, as there's more to life than having a girlfriend, and once you realize that then you'll probably have a better shot at getting a girlfriend ironically. The last thing that I do want to say on Jake, is what was his obsession with 16 year olds? I get that in the UK that we have the age of consent be 16 years old, but in general, society in the UK isn't wanting to see a 23 year old in a relationship with a 16 year old, so it was definitely an odd fixation from Jake imo.

Interesting, as an American, I kinda feel like I’ve gotten numb to seeing violence on the news. Obviously it’s absolutely horrible, but it doesn’t usually ruin my week or anything. I guess since the murder rate in my country is over five times higher than yours, along with a much bigger population that increases the likelihood of mass shootings, domestic terror etc, you simply can’t let these things affect you for long or else you won’t be able to function. If I see a shooting on the news, I usually watch the story, and then within an hour my mind is off it and I’m laughing at a comedy show or something.

@@AmericanCryptid1 I think it has a lot to do with gun laws. In the UK you can only legally aquire a gun through a very complicated license and you still have to follow strict handling rules. In the US (as I understand it) anyone can buy a gun and anyone can carry in public. This story shocked us all because shootings simply don't happen here due to our gun laws
