What it will do is severely undermine the value of an education, and the act of thinking in general.

Who cares - nothing people learn in school is useful in normal every day life unless you're actually interested in and dedicated to the subject in pursuit of hobbies/goals/careers. If you're truly interested in learning something, you will.

Sure, but it is a lot more than that. Chomsky has blinders on when it comes to A.I.

No, he doesn't. The issue is that generally the people who disagree with him fail to understand the difference between what is necessary and what is sufficient.

learning lots of information quickly is a real skill. you also improve your reading and memory skills. employers love faster learners. problem with school you learn the info then get tested and don't use it, so you forget. on the job you learn the information and use it many times. learning quickly is a very important skill and is a mark of academic intelligence and an excellent skill in an office environment.

Most of our education System based on memory test. Someone could be very smart without using any lexical knowledge. Simply because he understands and know how to think. Even if his/her lexical knowledge is almost zéró. Think about a true Genius who has very bad memory. He would have a very very hard Time in our System and there is a possibility that he never be discovered how great he is.

@@mindlessmind2010 most geniuses do not have bad memories. have you seen the WAIS IV exam? It's the leading IQ exam used in the US. it's like 1/3 of the test sections are memory based. working memory, short term memory and long term memory are critical to academic style intelligence and intelligence overall. yes there are other types of "intelligence" but i'm talking about academic style intelligence, not sports intelligence or art intelligence.

@@u235u235u235 I dont know that exam sorry. But I think using memory is a very small part of inteligence. The real deal is seeing the hidden patterns that connects the elements. And that is a form of art. Art of thinking. Inteligence and intuition goes Hand in Hand . If you really want to use it must come from a fresh place and all the information about the world is dead. "One of the dumbest thing I can do is taking an IQ test" -Magnus Carlsen

@@u235u235u235 As opposed to the people opposite of him who spout all this unfounded science fiction? Do you understand the difference between what is necessary and what is sufficient? Because we have not the slightest clue what is sufficient in order to create any type of intelligence that remotely mimics what human beings do. We can create the illusion of having this capability through parlor tricks (that apparently you buy into) but that's vastly different from anything like singularity.
