Music: “Walk With Me” by Jesus Culture
I went on a day hike with my brother-in-law on the Bear Creek Trail in the Chattahoochee National Forest of the North Georgia mountains. The trailhead is located just outside of Ellijay, Georgia. I have attached a link to a description and map of the trail. We enjoyed conversation and a walk in God’s creation along a 6.7 mile loop. From the trailhead we took the trail marked as Bear Creek Loop. The other trail located at the information board is marked the Pinhoti Trail. It is really a wonderful walk in the woods crossing several streams all which can be crossed on rocks. The highlight of the hike was the Gennett Poplar an old growth tree over 100 feet tall and 18 feet in circumference at the base. It is the second largest tree in the State of Georgia. It is wise to take a map with you as phone signal is rare except on the upper ridges. If one is interested in only seeing the Gennett Poplar take the trail marked Pinhoti Trail and it is located only 0.8 miles from the trailhead.
