I agree, Pon is a game changer! My hoya cuttings love it, slowly trying to transition my thirstier plants to it, so far so good, maranta and calathea love it as well. Thanks so much for your content Melissa, you inspire me to experiment and try new things all the time!

I’ve had a string of dolphins for 2 or 3 years now. I call her Sybil. She does wonderfully, then drops her dolphins for no apparent reason. A couple of months ago, I cut all the stems with dolphins off and propagated them and they’re doing great! Sybil had no dolphins left on her, just bare stems of 3-4”. Now, she has dolphins all over her too. I’m not sure why she drops her dolphins, but she comes back.

Hope your dolphins do well. Apparently string of plants only need shallow pots cos their roots are so delicate and to keep them full and lush they need lotsa light from the top. Also, I just bought a Mickey Mouse Alocasia just last Sunday. Hubby and I went away for the weekend and on the way home we stopped in a regional Bunnings (like your Home Depot) and it had so many Mickey Mouse plants and they are well established at a very reasonable price, so of course I had to buy one. But yours is a cutie patootie!!!!

Melissa, you need to get some Systemics so you can eradicate this situation. It will have no adverse reaction to your plants. Even now, as a preventative, I add a capful or two to my soil mixer. I also have added it to propagations in water vessels and pon mix.

I just took some props from my krohaniana, carnosa and polyneura and have them all in pon to prop 🤞 so far so good! My polyneura props went CRAZY and put out roots in a few days lol. I would love a shepherdii, it's on my wish list! Been doing a lot of props and rehabs over here myself. It's that time of year 😂 Edit: For my props in pon, I use clear plastic cups (start in like 2 oz cups, then move to 5 oz cups). I poke a bunch of holes in a cup, put pon and the plant in the cup with holes, and the sit that plant inside another cup with no holes. Then I water it and fill it up about halfway and that acts as a self watering system while the plants are growing. :) is not the most gorgeous thing in the world but it's cheap and you can get a whole bunch of props out of a bag of cups.
