You mentioned the thermal sensors working, but looking at the board, i see an ITE SuperIO. It would be nice to see an analysis of which board have which SuperIO. It's something i usually don't find in spec sheets, and even when i write the manufacturer, they tell me they are not sure, so then i take a chance, receive it, and i'm not able to have thermal information off the bat, especially since i use Linux and i mostly compile at maximum speed, sometimes for hours, i need to know if the chipset need extra cooling or not, and i shouldn't have to put hours in reverse-engineering the SuperIO or try to guess a somewhat working driver override. Manufacturers should have more pressure on putting technology we can actually work with. If a board manufacturer would offer me 100% usable and accurate temperature and voltage sensors in Windows and Linux, even if it was 100$ more expensive, it would be the one i'd buy.

I may be mistaken, but my understanding was that the maximum current ratings for MOSFETS generally assume a perfect, infinite heatsink that stays at 25C no matter how much heat you pump into it. Basically, a system that can't exist in reality. The only way you could actually get to those limits is with sub-ambient cooling, or living in the arctic where the ambient air is ridiculously cold in the first place.

The new one they sent me was slightly revised (V1.1 instead of V1.0) and it still has problems, such as: dimm/ram slots are extra crunchy and it'll take you a few times to seat the ram properly. Something is wrong with the cmos/bios it won't clear/reset properly, I've had to do a bios flashback to get it back to default settings. It's no joke, the worst motherboard I've ever bought. I've tried a few different CPUs in it and no-matter-what, it's super finicky about ram overclock/timing tuning, the bog standard 3200 MT/s CL16 XMP profile on my ram isn't fully stable on this board. So, between this, and it's X570 brother (The X570 Pro Wi-Fi), which one should I get for an AMD 3600? The B550 is currently at $180 and the X570 is at $220 (when it's in stock, that is). There are a couple of things to take into account: 1) I am buying into the 500 series MoBos because I plan on buying a 3600 right now, and then a couple of years down the line, switch to a Zen 3 CPU when the 3600 is no longer competent (and the Zen 3 CPUs have gone down in price). 2) I don't find the $40 difference to be a problem, but I don't wanna over-spend on things that I won't use (ie, I don't care for USB connectivity for front panels, having 2 PCIE4 NVME slots), that being said, I DO plan on overclocking the 3600 to at least 4.3mHz (I have an AIO that's more than capable to handle the heat). AND, in the future, when I change CPUs, I also want to be able to OC perhaps an R7 (I don't think that I'll ever go for an R9, unless I can get one for pretty cheap). 3) I don't know if this makes any difference, but I was planning on getting some pretty good RAM, 3666-4000mHz, which I intend to OC to its top limit (whatever it might be xD). So yeah, it would be easy to say "just go for the X570", but again, I want to get the cheapest MoBo that satisfies my previous needs/wants. Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated! P.S.: Also feel free to ask anything if you feel like it's needed in order to make a decision towards any of the two boards.

I got a good deal on the x570i version of this board, waiting for the desktop 4000-series. I am now genuinely curious what the advantages og x570 on itx is. Power delivery looks similar. The b550i comes with better networking (2.5gb vs 1gb on the x570), newer displayport and hdmi output standards and an extra fan header! I would honestly love another fan header on my x570i but only two are free, since there is a chipset fan. Why would you go x570i now that this b550i exists?
@suicon9392
4 жыл бұрын
The only reason to consider the x570i is if you need two pcie4-ssds, the b550i only does one pcie4 and one pcie3. There really is no real point to be made for the X570 chipset for ITX as the limited space doesn't allow the pcie4-connection to the chipset to be really useful. The b550i is better in terms of price, power delivery, memory support (4866 vs 4400) and io capabilities: Better SOC power delivery (90A vs 40A power stages), marginally betterish CPU power delivery (90A vs 70A power stages), better output filtering with the Panasonic Poscaps vs the Apaq caps in the X570i, newer display out standards (DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 vs DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0), additional fan header, faster networking (2.5gbit realtek vs 1gbit intel).

I had to remove the chipset heatsink on my x570i so I could use the alpenföhn black ridge cooler. Chipset temps didnt change at all (the large 120mm fan blowing air on the Mainboard with my cooler is enough) there are adapters to use the chipset fan header for normal 4 pin fans. the advantage of the x570 board is the pcie 4.0 chipset uplink and the back m.2 slot being pcie 4.0 as well. other than that the b550 is better.

@@suicon9392 thanks, really helps a lot! Retail price for x570i is more than 30% above the b550i in Norway. Cant imagine why anyone would go for x570i now. The b550i looks like a superb obtion for itx. Luckily i got my x570i for the same price that i was able to flip my msi b450 Ac gaming for, so cant really complain about that 😂

@@SaturnusDK yeah, really weird that they made those choises. They could have keept same design as on x570i and had more profit or sold it cheaper. Not complaining, though. This b550i is a great deal for the features and power delivery designe.

@GamersNexus any chance either you or Buildzoid could look into why they make those heatsinks "aerodynamic" on the side turning toward the CPU socket (the side where the airflow is) and on the side they wrap into plastic shrouds with 0 chance of airflow they make the fins? In my heatdissipation management experiences that makes absolutely no sense to do that, you should/would want the fins exposed towards the CPU socket and the airflow to move the air over the heatsinks more efficiently and why do so many of them not use the finned heatsinks? they even have a heatpipe through this one

Shit only 180$ I'm a bit surprised considering how much even the B450 mITX boards go for. Hell the board I'm using was 120$ when I bought it just last month. I think some people in the comments don't realize the how bad the mITX tax can be. Granted I fully expect it to be like B450 in the fact that it's basically impossible to get a true dud of a motherboard. I guess you win some and you loose some.

I wonder if Steve asks Buildzoid to pause briefly for an intro but is refused, resulting in a passive-aggressive standoff where Buildzoid speaks as quickly as possible for as long as possible in a (futile) effort to thwart GN's editing efforts. Eventually he'll start sending edited footage with all the breaths and sentence gaps removed. Then the audio will be sped up. Eventually he'll sound like the disclaimer narrator on "no money down" car commercials.

I'm late to the party on this Board, so apparently the 5800X came out after it. It sounds like this board will support it no problem, being how it seems to be a bit over engineered (which I personally love), but if anyone can give me any solid info if this would work for a 5800X with no worries I'd appreciate it. If not, I'll just buy it and try it and post my opinion of it somewhere. p.s.- my last two motherboards were from Gigabyte. They were and still are going strong.

My problem is there is no grey area between the low end asrock board and this board. I'm building a 3600 system and the power delivery on this is overkill as stated, but the featureset on the cheap board is practically non existent.

If this MOBO is overkill for a 3600, is the cheaper $130 ITX MOBO a better buy? I've seen buildzoids first impression video and he did not like that board but didn't go into details, so whats the better buy for an ITX and a 3600??

The Gigabyte A520i AC seems to use 95% the same PCB as the B550i Pro AX, only cheapening out on the VRM and using only AC instead of AX wifi. I wonder if MEM OC is as good on both boards or is the cheaper board gimped in BIOS?

I don't understand why all these videos have complaints about the extra 4pin. I know it's pointless at the moment, but maybe it'll be necessary for hight end 4000 series. And I don't see the point of complaining about something you won't use, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. It's seen as a positive if the VRM can deliver more amps than the CPU needs, so why is this any different? I'm not suggesting that motherboards without the extra 4pin should be criticised, I know it's useless in almost every instance, I just don't think it needs acknowledging one way or the other.
