If I may add another solution: Where the brake line enters the reservoir on the right side of the handler there is an elbow that the brake line fastens to. All you have to do is loosen the banjo bolt that holds the elbow to the reservoir. You only need to slightly loosen it. Twist downward on the elbow. This makes the hose move forward, clearing the view of the instrument cluster. Re-tighten the bolt and you are done. Takes less than a minute. I rode my CRF250L with this same solution for over 14000 miles and it never caused the hose to kink or any other problems. Not as elegant a solution as yours, but it does work.

A bit late to the party here & own a 2017 CFR250L. Funny it had the same issue but I found after riding it for some time.... break in.... magically all of a sudden the brake line no longer obscured my view of the instrument panel... No fix required, just put some miles on it, preferably on terrain that works the front suspension.... ;)

Tried this solution but did not work for me. When using a 20mm stand-off the brake line starts to make hard contact with the turn indicator bracket. Over time the line protection would wear. 10mm works but is not worth it (in my opinion).

@@themotonoobusa9710 I changed my bars to Pro Taper Contour High Bend and did your mod. It is longer in my way of speedo view, I did notice when I stand on pegs on pull back on bars the front brakes make noise (bottoming out?). It does not seem to be a big deal .....I think. Your thoughts? On the throttle side I have no throttle free play anymore and can't get any more slack on cables(due to higher bars). Everything works fine but I know its recommended you have 2-3mm of free play. I really don't want to switch the cables to longer as everything seems good but Im curious if you have any thoughts? Appreciate your help and great tip on this brake line fix.
@themotonoobusa9710
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jon, regarding the brake noise it is likely the spot where the soft lines meet the rigid tube that travels down the forks on the left side clicking on the guide hoop which is no big deal. Mine did that before the mod. And the throttle, if it works good than I wouldn't sweat it.

The first thing I ask myself before changing anything is “ why did Honda do it like that?” They have some of the best engineers. Currently the hose slides pretty freely within the guide. When spacing it out the hose is going to rub one side a lot harder causing wear.

Too bad it doesn't solve the problem of the hose being 6-7 inches too long.
@moemuggy4971

It's supposed to be that long because it actually travels with the suspension. Any shorter or zip-tied the bars, and could literally rip it out of the caliper.
