That actually a brilliant idea I spent ages and created a load of mess trying to decant this same soap in to 500ml bottle just to store it instead of pulling out the 5l bottle. I went to wash my car the other day and still didn’t use it as I knew I’ll have to 1st go find a syringe work out how much i need to use so I just use another shampoo that I know I just need to squirt it twice. This is what puts me off using high concentrate shampoos. I will now pre mix it down using di water so it’s ready to go & more convenient. Thanks Jon.

Ive been using this for almost a year now. I go crazy with it in multiple buckets and i have used about 200ml of the 5l. Pretty sure i bought it on your recommendation

I use AutoGlym Pure Shampoo Jon, which is around £8 for 500ml. I literally use 1 capful per bucket, it's foamy and plenty good enough. I'd estimate 1 capful to be 10ml at the most, maybe less. so that is 50 washes for £8 = 16p per wash. If a capful is less than 10ml (which it probably is), that makes it less than 15p per wash. I'm happy with that.

I myself bought 2 pieces of 5 liters of these this red and Super Suds which is also 1900:1. It will last my lifetime as I don't work full time washing and cleaning cars. But I have heard different about the products the one that is Super Suds has a shine enhancer in the shampoo? While the red one doesn't have it? I notice very little difference in how they feel to use in how well they glide and foam. The super suds maybe add some shine? Both are very good shampoos that maintain a high standard and are hard to beat considering the 5 liter price. I paid a little more than 12 pounds calculated here in Sweden on Black Friday. Think I paid £25-30 for 5 litres. It's also cheap considering how much you get out of it. I gave away to my parents and sold to good friends for the same price I paid myself. I probably have 7 liters left of both of them, which should be enough for many more years. I alternate between 1900:1 and Geyon PPF wash which takes some iron oxide. It is almost the same if not the same as their Restart shampoo which I have also tried. Both smell like iron oxide remover. They open up the protection if you now have paint protection on the car, which I don't feel Carchem shampoo does? Of course Geyon PPF smells bad but gives good glide and works very well on the rims. Then I happened to get it at a very good price on Black Friday in a store here, so I bought several liters of it. It cleans very well, restores a clogged paint protection so it repels water again. It makes it better if it cleans the pores or what to say about the varnish protection?

What's the ingredients in this shampoo? 🤔. I think I would prefer to spend a bit more on a shampoo with quality ingredients witj plenty of lubrication and cleaning power. I've yet to find a shampoo that will dethrone Carpro Reset shampoo as its perfect on everything for my conditions.

I worked out you would need 8ml of neat product in a bucket, at the current price that would make it 5p a wash. 5L of product would make 625 buckets.

A bit overly complicating the math Mate. 1:2000 gives 1/2 milliliter per liter of stuff. 25 liters of wash stuff needs 12.5 milliliters. 5 liters in the jug at 12.5 mils each use is 400 washes. 1200p per jug / 400 washes is 3p per wash. If you are trying to compare product formulas, you'll need to consider their dilution ratios and prices. Basically... if the recommended (15mL) dose makes a satisfactory wash, you got a nice deal on some soap. Unless, like you say, it may be cheap for a reason. Adjust for need and budget. Always enjoy your efforts. Being a traitor to the Crown (born and live in the colonies...) it's harder to compare products without digging into the ingredients/formulas, etc., but still good info. Cheers!

so why can car chem who formulate and have large blending and compounding infrastructure afford to sell it to you for 1.5p a wash or 12 quid for 5 litres?
@samoram6920
20 күн бұрын
Don't forget to add the cost of the bottle, the label, the label design, the label printing, the advertising, the bulk shipping costs, etc... plus you are just selling on a finished product, you don't have any R&D costs and salaries to cover. It's not as simple as chemical + water cost 😉

Yes but I bought this from a firm that formulate it and blend it. And it comes with label and packing. And they have staff costs and rates to pay. And that's the retail price not whole sale price.

There's a funny thing about your "gel like" shampoo and that's the "gel like" quality is achieved by adding salt and is only done to make you _feel_ like you've got something for your money. One of the commonest surfactants SLES (which the Carchem 1900:1 contains between 1 and 5% of) comes from the chemical factory as a 27% aqueous solution and it's _barely_ thicker than water. Add more water and salt and you can make a gel that almost won't pour. It doesn't need the salt to do it's job, it works just as well without. If you look at the MSDS for Carchem 1900:1 you'll find that it is _at most_ 20% surfactants including SLES, Cocoamide and SDBS. That, by the way, is an ingredients list that probably matches the bottle of hair shampoo your wife has in the bathroom.

Yer it's just standard mild surfactants. Don't know if they use salt as gelling agent there's other ways to do it. But all car shampoos are mild surfactants. You pay about 1.5p a wash with this one. And it works great

Could you just not save yourself the faffing about mixing it out with water in 1L form & calculate the ratio neat into the bucket to get the same results? 62.5 / 10 means just over 6ml in the bucket. Say 7ml straight in the bucket in 12.5L works out about 1785:1. Roughly 1.6p per wash 👌 I get what you're doing with the video though in highlighting the ridiculous pricing of some shampoos 👍
@ForensicDetailing

yer you could mate. I will say this though B its a faff trying to dose 6ml from the jerrycan when its this thick. So just having a litre bottle you can tip around 100ml into the bucket is good idea. Or you could form a middle ground and mix it up at say 500:1. I quite like using the tolco proportioners to dose it out.
