John V Didn't seem to be any motion on the blade at all, may as well have just chucked the blade up to a vise for the same effect. It's not like the skil saw was able to over drive the other, they simply never got started moving at all. Agree with all the comments that a real cutting scenario with proper use, where the saw is allowed to get moving rather than just held down against a jammed blade, would have been useful and informative. Think up some way to actually measure the max cutting force before stalling, but allow it to get up to speed first, and then start increasing the load to the stall point rather than start out with it stalled. If the tool then starts smoking, most people would figure out that's the time to let off on the trigger.

Cody, Amazon does not sell Harbor Freight tools. There are third party sellers on Amazon that sell them, though. They most likely buy the tools in bulk from Harbor Freight when they are on sale, then they list them on Amazon for an inflated price to make a profit. The rotating handle reciprocating saw that you bought for $39.99 on Amazon from the third party seller is being sold at Harbor Freight for $29.99, sometimes even less when it's on sale.

The quality of the tool is sub-par. The rotating chuck feature: while it has stood the test of time and still works as it should, changing cutting direction sounds like nails being dragged across concrete due to debris buildup on contact points. The dang thing won't quit 🤷 just used it last weekend to cut a rusty exhaust section out of my car so I could install an aftermarket one.

So going by how you test a lot of your fans would probably like to see which truck is the toughest of them all by your standards. Since the truck is one of the most expensive tools someone will buy, a lot of people will want to know which is the best. I'd do it if i had the platform you do and was my job. why not try doing actual work with them and see where they go from there. instead of just burning them up for no reason. use them for their intended purpose to see which one out last the other.

the chicago electric brand from harbor freight is all me and my boss use. We do remodel mostly with some normal carpentry. It works great each saw lasts us easily 1.5- 2 years. Keep in mind we use it a ton every single job. i recommend them no matter what the test says

Some advice Wranglerstar, don't buy new Chicago Electric tools off of amazon. It is almost always discontinued old-stock items. If you paid more than $29 bucks, you were taken for a ride bro. Otherwise, the test was kind of lame. You matched a 7.5 amp saw against a 6 amp saw and are surprised the 7.5 amp overpowered the smaller motor saw. As far as the fire? It is called physics. Any time you stall an electric motor, it converts the power being consumed directly into I2R losses -- heat. Heat combined with flammable materials, in this case the varnish that coats the wires in the motor, produces fire once the heat reaches flash point. It has nothing to do with either quality or power. It does have everything to do with basic physics. A --> quality

Okay. Now wait just a minute you really didn't do anything that really tested the saws. Like you need to put these saws in real life situations, because I don't think that a "Real life situation" "is attaching two saws together" and running them. If we were going to go into the realm of realism go cut some trees with them with the course wood blade or cut some 1/2 inch metal with them. Cut some dry-wall and like normal demolition stuff. That would be a true test. This isn't hate or like saying you did it wrong just recommending some ideas, constructive criticism. Also Great video !!

Did not learn a single thing about performance on what the power tool was designed to do. Do that then go into a destruction torture test perhaps? People who can only afford a cheap tool will have liked to know what one would get them out of trouble.

Cody, others have said it but I wanted to put it in my own words. This video was entertaining, but it wasn't very informative. (Well, admittedly I did learn just how quick the HF junk died) You have a wealth of knowledge on tools and their uses. That's one of the reasons I like your videos where you share your wisdom and knowledge that you've earned the hard way. So real world use tests would be great, drop tests, how the tool actually feels to use, and just your opinion, which I respect. I won't stop watching or anything, but I did prefer your older tool videos. Thanks for posting!

Eh...I know these tests are funny but they aren't a true "test" of their designed function. As with the drills...simply "locking horns" and applying power until one of the motors/controllers fails does NOT test it's ability to drill, saw...whatever. You're testing parameters the engineers never designed into them. Under NORMAL working conditions and used for their INTENDED job and audience(ie...a hobbyist saw NOT used in a professional setting) many of the tools(Ryobi comes to mind)will work as they should and provide good value for those who don't need either the durability or the price(remember, professionals can deduct the cost of their tools)of high end product names. Good entertainment though...and I DO like your channel so it's nothing personal.

TakeDeadAim I want to be able to thumb this comment up 300 times, just to get it to the top. These aren't tests. Let's see some footage using the tools as they were intended, maybe just on the edge of abuse. This "lock the tools together and see which one dies first" doesn't teach us anything about how the tool will last with normal use. I've got Ryobi tools and have abused the heck out of them this year, and no problems yet. But the Ryobi was the first drill to die in wranglerstars "test"

"Today I'm going to show you how to improperly use and break a Reciprocating Saw and tell you that it's terrible!" If you are going to try and prove something use it the way it was meant to be used and properly demonstrate its pros and cons against its competition. By doing what you did realistically proves nothing. (yes i know this video is old.)

i have had that same harbor freight saw. i think i bought it for $20, it has always needed to do, what i needed to get done. at that low of a price point it is still serving me well. its not a tool i use daily, it makes no sense for me to spend too much money on it...... but it has been a good performer.

Normally really enjoy the channel, not a fan of these wasteful destructive tests. Why don't you do a real comparison of actual use and then give away the tools to someone who could really use them instead of destroying them. Not to be over critical, just a suggestion.

I have one the older Chicago Electric reciprocating saws with the Dewalt style chuck release. Bought it for about 22 bucks about 2 years ago and at most harbor freights you can get it for that or less with their 20% coupon. It has served me very well from cutting 6" long piece of 1/4" steel to knocking out walls in house remodels. I would have also really liked to see a capability test of them cutting first before the death match.
