I don't think it's possible to like Bigsbys too much, I'm not even huge on trems but I would love one on every guitar I have even if only for the aesthetics. They just look so awesome!

....That looks like it increases the break angle. Are the strings supposed to go on top of the bar? This seems like Astrology--how does anything but changing scale length or tuning affect string tension?

The strings go under the bar and in this video, the bar at its lowest point. It may look like a deeper angle, but it’s less. So I could raise the bar and actually decrease string tension, but this height was my preference. Any object the strings have to pass over or under affects string tension. By removing one of these angles, the tension decreases. The least amount of string tension possible would be directly from where the strings are held to the tuners. Adding a bridge, a nut, a Bigsby, etc, the tension is increased. Sincerely, a Gemini

@@Gibsunday If the scale length and the tuning haven't changed, the tension of the string hasn't changed. Bending ability might be affected by a strings ability to glide over the saddles, but otherwise, tension is tension and woo is woo and the guitar market thrives on woo.

@@elijahmerrill9045 overall tension in the free portion of the string remains the same, yes. The main advantage to something like this is that it provides the ability to adjust the break angle, so it can alleviate issues where the strings make contact with the back of the bridge, etc. Comparing this to something like the roller on a B7, there are likely some factors that could change the feel of the instrument since the geometry is fairly different, but overall tension of the free portion of the string is not one of them.
