I'm so utterly envious of anyone who got to attend even just one of these nights. I had the DVD from the shows and played the ever living snot out of it. And I swear I saw the actress Heather Graham in the crowd at one point! That, or someone sure looked like her at the show. Lol

I was there for all 4 nights with my brother. Seen Cheap Trick live many, many times, but I'll always remember these shows. They gave 110%. They were on fire. May have been just another set of shows to them, but that's their level of professionalism. Cheap Trick are amazing workhorses. Always on.

i didnt get to catch them in the early days, but seeing them in a club (same tour, probably a bit smaller than the Metro) was the way to go. they really were smoking...they never skip Buffalo...some radio guy was instrumental in their getting signed...they never forgot and come to see him every time. Such an all around fantastic band

@@DaveAnchovies Same here. I became a fan sometime around 1979 or so.. a little before One on One came out, and my first show was that tour. So that’s pretty early, in the big picture, although they had been playing since the early 70s I think.

I only "discovered " Cheap Trick about three years - via Velvet Revolver's cover of Surrender. I've never seen them live ( Edinburgh to USA is a bit far away for a night out!) but I've watched lots of their shows online and I think this is my favourite. Robin Zander is in truly magnificent voice and the whole band are so tight. I'm a bit miffed that Robin has aged since then but hey he's only human!

Just an AMAZING weekend of music at Metro with Cheap Trick. They have always served up chaotic melodic hard pop rock. There is no band like them, and they have the best-ever band name!! "Gonna Raise Hell" really shook the metro that weekend

I love hearing Rick's falsetto back ups so loud and clear!!! Usually they blend him in - I love hearing him! Of course, Robin sounds fantastic - and they all are at the top of their game. Great recording!

This is my favorite recording out of all the Cheap Trick shows out there. Excellent audio production, everything is mixed superbly. They were on FIRE these shows, Robins voice is timeless always so powerful, and he's a smoker wow!

the only ones that rival it are the real early days...No Heaven Tonight songs, the second album wasnt even out, but the key songs are on Samurai Rock Band. They did Hot Love on Conan and we were shocked...its better than any version. They meant business. No way they'd be playing intimate shows if they knew they werent still on top (of the world)

@@friguy4444 Dont think he does anymore but he did for quite some time. There's a promo pic of him lighting up and if you watch the intro to the Silver video he is smoking as he goes onstage. Ive seen him hot box smokes in between songs at shows back in the 90's and early 2000's. Again.... pretty sure he does not anymore.

These guys just kept getting better ... such a tight group. Robin's voice graduated to a different dimension, as if he could get any better, and he got completely comfortable with rockin rhythm guitar. Tom's playing soared to another level. Bun E and Rick same as ever ... top of their field.

1st was we were using our secondary audio set up 5 Tascam d88 Mackie 32x8x2 art mic pre amps when I got to the metro that day they informed me that we were going to have to split the stage from the recording studio they had on the second floor they recorded in non drop Frame we recorded drop frame (I did not think to ask that question as there was loads more to be done) we had issues that our 300 ft snake was not long enough to reach the truck going back the way we came so I got my brother on the marquee feeding the snake down to the truck we encountered countless buzzes and shit you know the drill anyway im not sure if it was the cable that was delaying the signal but everything was delayed and I garanteed id deliver so as we were driving back to our studio I called my audio guy and told him to get ready to do a mix the next morning the pa started calling about the tapes I was still matching back the audio too fix the offset I wasn't finished till about 8 pm as I had to resync every 3 min because of the drop non drop frame which is why I still had this tape as far as the audio masters there not in my house anymore
