This has to be one of THE most satisfying stories I've heard in a long time. Kristi was playing cheater's checkers and Mike countered with four-dimentional F-U chess. I loved hearing him dismantle all of the cliche excuses cheaters make. It's about time a story did this. The story needed ~3 more minute to tell how Kristi's new relationship fell apart sooner than Mike predicted, how Kristi's family took Mike's side and how Mike moved on. They've already cheated on their affair partner. With their spouse. People just don't seem to get that. When a cheater cheats, they cheat on 2 people, actually 3, as well as any children they may have. They cheat on their committed spouse/partner with their affair partner, and they cheat on their affair partner with their committed spouse/partner. Just the partners/spouses existence is enough. They cheat on themselves. Not to mention cheating their children out of a 2 parent home and all of the upheaval and emotional trauma adultery/cheating causes children.

Notice her reaction to Mike when he suggests an open marriage, revealing her wanting him to keep HER 100% of his s-xual world... and her constantly telling him how HE'S strong enough to handle this. Had they opened up their marriage and Mike found his FIRST gal, she'd be demanding to close the relationship. The fear of him finding a younger, prettier gal would eat away at her. Knowing she could be REPLACED, and he doesn't NEED her, would make her "crazy".

This was a really good story. Well written. Well read. The storyline so expertly covered everything; the excuses, reasons, knockbacks, delusionally thinking the husband would just agree to the proposal...if not immediately... then eventually, the betrayal, placing seeds to grow into full-blown mistrust, his game of chess was far superior to theirs. The final scene was a brilliant full-stop. Sometimes, people think they are so loved that their partner will put up with anything to keep them but are shocked when the 'cheted on', refuses and walks away. SMH.

Women are much better at justifying things that they do and want in their minds than men are in my experience. I've known a lot of guys that have cheated and their most common denominator was ego, some claimed to have not been getting taken care of at home, but then in the vast majority of those claiming that, they continued cheating in every relationship they had. Maybe I read too many western and war novels growing up, but the number one quality I picked up from that was loyalty, followed immediately by honesty. It makes me feel like I was born in the wrong century at times.

Well played, OP, but there were no happy people in the end. She has the homewrecker now, but her husband is done. He was already done after finding out she cheated on him, before she even told him that he had to share her with this other dude. Moreover, during that interaction, she even revealed that she had stepped outside the marriage before. She might even cheat on her new guy, too, or they might cheat on each other. They're made for each other... while OP went back to the alcohol bottle...

This story is a substantial combination of a fairly deep thought process, leading to some fairly complicated and ingenious conclusions, and a truly massive pile of BS. Just as is true of classic soap operas, people only act in the way portrayed because it has been previously observed in a completely made-up fiction vehicle. LOVE is the most misunderstood and badly-used word in the entire English language. Not one person in a thousand really understands what it means. In this audience, it's likely far less than that---judging from the comments.
