So the Check Engine Light recently came on in the dash cluster of our 2016 Abarth 595 Turismo, this happened shortly after I noticed the Turbo Boost Gauge which shows the Turbo bar/psi had stopped working too, the boost gauge had become intermittent only working sometimes so I thought maybe it’s a fuse or pipe. Turns out it was all to do with lack of use of the car and the battery going flat. When an Abarth 595 battery goes flat or gets close to flat it can start sending all types of messages or delays in the system which can result in error codes and check engine lights coming on. The solution, first is to fully charge the battery, but if that doesn’t fix it you’ll need to replace the battery in your Abarth 595 with a new one. Then you’ll also most likely need to go and find a garage or friend with an OBD Code Reader to plug into your Abarth 595 and find out what fault codes it is showing. Hopefully it will just be what it was with mine - slow response to/from the O2 sensors / lambda - and if so it shouldn’t hopefully be a big deal and it’s easily fixed. Often just getting out in the car and giving it a good drive. At least, that’s what sorted mine out.
