If AirBnB is going to make the guests clean and wash everything there should be no cleaning fee whatsoever

I received a comment for not taking out the trash in a place in Hawaii. He failed to also note the elevators were not working and I was on the 34th floor. Yes you hypocrite, you know who you are.

@Macca oh woooow. We just recently stayed in Denver and when I tell you they had 8 trash cans for different recyclables, i am not exadurating. It was so complicated. I guess we put a plastic bottle in the wrong trash, and she gave me such a nasty review. I am so pissed. I literally paid $50 cleaning fee for the person to make me clean and then give e me a bad review for accidentally recycling wrongly wow. Also forgot to mention heating doesn't work in 8 °F weather

As hotel cleaner can I just say we love the guest that leave their room at least tidy, some even go as far as to gather the towels and bedsheets in a pile. We love guest like that.

Even when I'm on a cruise I make my bed and put everything away. In resorts, I strip the beds and wash the dishes. Hotel, I strip the sheets and add used towels and washcloths to the top of the pile. I fold up comforter. It's the way I was raised and my desire to treat others with kindness.

We stopped using air BNB’s in the USA when we had our own locked room and the owners wanted the bed made daily!!! 😂😅 Plus, if you’re charging a cleaning fee and I’m doing your laundry and dishes, no thanks, I’ll stay at a hotel. Just saying!

@@ClaudetteFurrerthis one host from Victoria only sent his checkout outline a few days before checkin, I didn't know he expected me to throw out the garbage to his bin in the back and do dishes without leaving the dishwasher while out. It ruined my vacation for sure cos the check out was early and had chores to do for him. If only I knew right away he had chores for me, I would've booked a hotel. From now on, if I choose Airbnb, first question is if there are chores to do as guests. I'm not gonna stress on washing the linens and towels in the washer before checkout despite paying cleaning fee :(

We don't charge cleaning fees, and still most guests clean after themselves. When I am a guest, I also do it. However, no matter what guest would do, this is just a superficial cleaning. The host must still do the in-depth cleaning, washing, etc. Taking care about the apartment/house is just a decency.

Ive never clean the airbnb Im staying in. Why would I? Im paying for the service. If I stay longer (like 6-7 days or more) owners usually offer new sheets and towels and cleaning person to come and clean everything.

Airbnb & others like this are going to begin to see a decline in their revenue if they don’t change their policies/hefty fees!! You can stay at a resort with ALL kinds of amenities, plus they change your sheets, towels & refresh your room all included in the price! It’s a no brainer!!

The issue is that the cleaning note about laundry, etc isn’t posted on the Airbnb website… you don’t find out till you get there Plus if they have a propane grill and it’s low on gas, u have to refill it and send them a receipt to get reimbursed on the side cus they weren’t aware it was LOW(!)

Airbnb lost my business when their base fees became more expensive than a hotel irregardless of the cleaning fees and chores assigned by the owners. I think the greed over took their common sense.

Who are you giving a break too? I believe you're referring to housekeeping not home keeping. Housekeeping is the management and routine support activities of running an organized physical institution occupied or used by people, like a house, ship, hospital or factory, such as tidying, cleaning, cooking, routine maintenance, shopping, and bill payment.

We run an Airbnb in Maine and ASK our guests to do a minimum checkout checklist when leaving. We have a house that sleeps eight, allows dogs, and folks stay for a week or longer - so a small cleaning fee is not unreasonable.

Having stayed in almost 50 AirBNB's for anywhere from one night to 3 months each in the last 14 months of worldwide travel... and maybe 20 hotels... I couldn't agree more with the accuracy of this short vid - hilarious!!! I'd choose AirBNB's with kitchens any day!!! The feeling of privacy and the ability to make healthy food you like, instead of restaurant food, is WORTH EVERY BIT OF THE CLEANING I do when I check out!!!!!

This is why I use airbnbs outside of the US since most hosts in other countries usually don’t expect guests to clean like everything as it’s not their job. They do expect you to do the minimum ofc like cleaning up the dishes, put the bed back how it was, and taking out the trash before you leave

Housekeeper where i live get paid a living wage. Above the median in the area. Plus all the perks of having a full time job. Don’t know where you are at or what year you live in. Most Hotels have unions and the ones who don’t match benefits like unions

I clean up wherever I go, only because I don't really make much of a mess in the first place. I always leave a hotel room to the similar state that I entered it. if Airbnb expects people to clean and wash everything, there shouldn't be a cleaning fee. But I'm not really sure how Airbnb works.

i never leave anywhere without it being set up to be cleaned. I pull the sheets & pillow covers off, i make sure all bathroom stuff is in a pile together, all the food waste is on the same table. I dont mind leaving messes but i will always leave organized messes. 😅

This is why I always choose hotels now. If I'm paying a $250 cleaning fee for 2 nights, on top of the rate, then I'm not going to spend my last hour cleaning. Hotels at least just include it in the nightly rate.

I own an Air BnB and the only request I gave is to make sure the doors are locked when they leave. I prefer they do nothing that makes it easier for me for cleaning. I am insulted with the insinuations your house cleaning before leaving. My experience staying in Air Bob's is similar to my expectations.

We usually stay in self contained accommodation, but only once was it an AirBnB - though I found it first on another site, so didn’t book through them. They had no strict requirements, but while we don’t clean before we leave, we ALWAYS leave places we stay tidy, whether it’s a cabin, house or hotel. To us it’s just good manners.

Stop staying in second rates Airbnb locations. You can check with a host well before you book to see if they have any checkout or cleaning requirements. If you don't want to do it stop booking their places. Simple as that. I charge a cleaning fee. It gets passed 100% to my cleaning team. My checkout instructions... "please ensure all keys, garage openers, etc are returned and lock the door on the way out! Thanks for staying with us!"

Problem is, not everyone has a short checkout instruction like yours. Believe me, I have experience with hosts sending a long outline of things to do before going. Sometimes when you're on vacation n checking out, all that's in your head is not missing the plane back home. 😂 yet there are hosts who need you to turn on dishwasher and washer before going and not leaving it unattended 🤭 on top of paying cleaning fee

@@roxtimes3 Yeah! No joke! That is why I want these other hosts to stop charging if they have a big list! I am with you! The last thing you should be worried about is the condition of the property when you have a flight to catch! My biggest irk is I have so many of my friends who reach out to me about this kind of thing and I always ask, "did you ask about checkout expectations before booking?". The answer I always get is no. I think if guests and hosts have more communication then complaints about the tasks and fees can be curbed. Hoping to build more awareness with both guests and hosts about this.

Sometimes you're staying in places without a lot of options. I haven't stayed in Airbnb in years that didn't ask me to do some sort of clean up. They never used to ask you to take out the trash and now all the ones I've stayed in the last couple of years want you to do that. One told me to clean the counter tops and sweep the floors. Appalling.

So true! There are great benefits. As others have said the cleaning fee gets me when the check out list is so long. Give me back my $100 then!!

I am never expected clean any air bnb I stay in. But I do it by choice. Because that’s someone’s home. They may not occupy it themselves but that’s still their home. And It’s a small business that I respect. Most people don’t hire people to clean these air bnbs, they do it themselves so I will play my part by cleaning my own mess to make ANYONES job easier whether it’s an air bnb OR a hotel.
