I'm from Russia and I'm among the handful of Russian people who ever watched that show, especially in English without translation. I remember it used to be aired here in 90s but it was always showed at 2 AM when most of the people were sleeping, so it has never succeeded here like Friends or Big Bang Theory, that's why I had to download all seasons from piratebay later to watch it entirely. Because of the memories about this show every time I visit any bar I always expect that in several seconds Norm will enter in and everyone will explode in joy with "NORM!!!", unfortunately that never happens, but I never loose my hope :)

Same here! I'm the fan in Japan, but I'm the only person who's watched every single episode in this small island nation. F.R.I.E.N.D.S and Big Bang Theory are more like international shows which you can enjoy or be entertained even if your native language is not English. On the other hand, Cheers is mostly loved domestically in their home country since most of the jokes are from complexed idiomatical expressions that non-native speakers find it hard to understand. But, once we have figured out this formula, it'd be much more entertaining and addictive. Maybe, these are the reasons Cheers is not perceived very well outside the US compare to other famous sitcoms.

True. But Fraiser hit on the changing times, it was a seamless transition from the 80's to the 90's with cheers and Fraiser. The other actors andactresses successes were directly tied to cheers. Kristy, Long, Norm, Nelson they were mega stars. Cheers was for rising talent in the 80s what mash was for those in the 70's. Saddly after cheers there was never again a true analogue of it. No one show afterwards gave rise to the level of talent Cheers did.

This is probably the most nostalgic song in history after seeing these comments! Someone said it makes them happy and sad at the same time! EXACTLY!!! It literally brings me back to my childhood years. Hearing this theme song come on at night, back when family was everything. Back when love was real. My dad is longer here , he passed away from cancer. But Everytime I hear this song, it's like being Ina time machine, 7yrsld on the couch begging to stay up a little bit later so I can hang with my dad and watch tv. Mannn, they tell you how fast life is and to appreciate your youth. But when you're young all you wanna do is grow up and be free from restrictions lol Damn, look what a song can do.. When this show was on the air back during my teenage years in the 80's I thought it was okay but it was not one of my favorite shows. For some reason when I listen to the intro now it gives me chills and I think its the best theme song ever written. I'm not sure why it affects me that way now but I suppose the song takes me back to a better time in my life so many years ago. .

We just went to the Cheers bar in Boston, and I stood on the corner and recorded a brief video clip that matched the very beginning of the Cheers theme from the show, including cars driving by. Brought back great memories from the show. It’s a shame the inside doesn’t look like the actual bar from the show, but my wife and I shared a couple of drinks, I got a Cheers mug and T-shirt while I was there.

I remember I would always fall asleep to this song. My father would always watch it right around the time I would drift off to bed as a little kid. This song actually brings a comfort feeling.

This lovely theme song touches the heart as it expresses a hidden desire that many of us didn't realize (or want to admit) that we have... It lightly touches that hidden sadness but, brings such joy to hear. I loved this song even as a young child. The lyrics, instrumentals and vocalist , together, create a song that's timeless. I love it!!!❤❤❤

The song was perfect. Simon, a ordinary mortal, attempting to wield a powerful magical relic through sheer willpower. It showed that "making it in the world 'today' takes everything you got". As he fought, he knew he couldn't give into the crown and take "a break from all his worries". Sadly, for all his efforts, Simon was only human; he had forgotten Marcy's name as well as the final words of his song reminding us that he is drifting from his humanity "where everybody..."

This is one of my favorite shows. Kirstie Alley was definitely a great actress in this show. She may be gone but the acting in shows and movies she left behind will be in fans’ hearts forever, myself included. She’s now with some of the shows members in Heaven R.I.P😔😇🙏❤️💐

I remember watching this with my grandfather as a child growing up. It bought back memories of a point in time we shared. That we no longer share.

I wonder how many people discovered this show and this song through Adventure Time. Probably hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions.

When my dad passed away in 2019, we had a celebration of life at Everybody's, a sports bar up in my area. It was his, and my, favorite restaurant. I should've ended it with this song.
