This episode did have a very touching moment. When Sam was in Rebecca’s office (I can’t believe I just wrote that. It will always be Sam’s office to me), he was pleading for a job at Cheers. When he said, “This place is the closest thing I have to a real home. I want to come back, please,” it got me a little teary eyed. The humility there from Sam was a touching moment. He went from God’s gift to women to a lost puppy in a matter of a few minutes. Of course, shortly after hearing that Rebecca’s boss wants Sam full time, he goes back to ol’ confident Sam again. I love when Rebecca says, “Mr. Malone, may I speak with you a moment?” and he says (lounging back with feet up on a table), “Sure what’s up Becky.” Haha

Forever Sam's office. I think season 4 and 5 gave us some great character development for Sam - when Woody joined, it was like Sam had stepped up a rank in maturity - but I know there's so much more to come from this point on. Of course, they "Becky" comment confirms that he's still the same old Sam, but now maybe one with a few more gray hairs on his head thanks to Diane!

@@McLeanAmy Such true commentary. Sam stepping up in rank in maturity when Woody joined would almost be assumed, wouldn’t it? Sorry, Woody. Although, in some ways, Woody was more mature than Sam. And ya, Diane definitely added a few gray hairs.... aaaaaand maybe a few hairs lost maybe? As evidenced from a future episode : )

For me, a great moment in this episode was when all of the old cast members make their way into the bar to ask for the “Screaming Viking.” First Norm, then Cliff, then Tim, then Al. Cliff’s entrance was hysterical. After he placed his order, Sam’s laughter seemed unscripted to me. It may have been, but I am sure some real laughter was mixed in there. It looked so genuine. Interesting note, I read on IMDB that the “Screaming Viking” drink was inspired from this Cheers episode. Pretty cool!

When Cliff came out to ask for the drink, it was amazing! I didn't even know it was a drink after the fact, but now I very very very much want to go to Cheers and ask for a Screaming Viking. Just to see what happens.

IT'S ON THEIR MENU! I just went onto Cheers's site, and their drinks menu has the Screaming Viking! I don't drink alcohol, but I kind of want it to be my mission to order one and have at least a sip. For Sam!

@@McLeanAmy You are too funny!! I did not even think to check their menu. What a cool idea! And WOW, it is sooooo cool that they have it on the menu. I do not drink either, but I can surely do a sip to experience a part of Cheers history. Haha I am glad to hear I am not the only Cheers viewer that does not drink. I was beginning to think it was a requirement if you were a Cheers fan.

@@hagiospneuma7 Surely someody must have ordered something nonalcoholic from the bar at some point! I'm trying to think now and I can't recall, but now I'm going to have to keep an eye out for it. There's me thinking it'd be years before I return to Boston, but between Nantucket and Screaming Viking it might have to be sooner. Gah!

@@McLeanAmy Hmm I am sure more reasons will pop up as discussions of the show continue on : ) AND OH DUH, I just realized we are missing the most obvious... SAM DOESN'T DRINK EITHER!!! haha Can't believe I blanked on that

I have to admit, Season 6 Episode 1 was as difficult watch, if not more difficult to watch, than it was years ago when the show first aired. No Diane, no one yelling “Norm” when he entered the bar, uniforms for the employees, and yes, even Rebecca... was a hard pill to swallow for me. I love Kirstie Alley and love how her character develops, but she was a hard sell in this first episode, in my opinion. Of course, knowing what is ahead, I am excited to see her on the show. Sad about no Diane, but happy to see Rebeca. BUT WOW, when I first saw this episode, I was afraid I wouldn’t like this new character, Rebecca, because she really starts off a little cold.

The lack of "NORM!" was so painful. I gave him a NORM, but it wasn't the same doing it on my own. I can't really remember what I first thought of Rebecca, though I expect I'm too biased to have a fair assessment of her character in the beginning. I definitely think they made a lot of effort to - at first at least - make her the exact opposite of Diane. Diane being bubbly, whiney, and playful, with Rebecca talking quite dryly and taking no nonsense.,

@@McLeanAmy Hahahaha you are cracking me up today!! I love that you gave it the ol' "NOOOOORM!" shout from home!! hahaha Ok, I admit it, I have done it too. I have a few friends who are witnesses to it and joined me in it. I guess that's why you saying it, made me laugh so much. I can relate
