@9:52 So does the mass stay the same as you go up in the morse potential? In 8 years surely someone has done the math.

Yes the mass remains the same. It is the energy that is increased.

How alkanes absorb IR radiations though they donot have dipole moment

+avuti chandramouli Only bond vibrations that result in a changing dipole moment will have an absorption band in IR. C-H bonds are very slightly polar so we will see these signals but they will never be as strong as the stretch of a C-O bond.
