Great job Dave, I always heard that he had never been wounded but it was just hearsay and I never really dug into his different battles. Great educational video and I can’t thank you enough for putting this together

Outstanding work Marine! So many stories have been told about Colonel Puller that it sometimes is difficult to separate fact from fiction. This is definitely fact. By the way, I am trying to place your accent as I am a fellow southerner. I am thinking Virginia or North Carolina. I am from Tennessee and am just wondering on a personal level. It makes no difference as I am proud to view your efforts on behalf of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Thanks for the nice comments and glad you enjoyed it. Not many even Marines are aware of Chesty’s wounding. Your close, Alabama 😀

@@guadalcanal-walkingabattle5349 I knew of Chesty's wound. I wasn't clear as to exactly when and where he was FINALLY treated. I can definitely see Chesty demanding to stay with his men.

Great to see you upload and nice work telling this part of Chesty's story. I must say when a leader crawls out into the open on the beach to repair a communications line, rather than ordering one of his men to do the job. Respect doubles for his leadership. His refusal to leave his men speaks of a genuine and unique love of his men. Again, nice work on video!

Yes some great examples you can put forth when some say he didn’t care about his men.

Sad we do not have the history in our school curriculum instead we learn about Cuban cold war, middle east war, North Korea. What are waste to loss our history. I truly appreciate your effort to share our lost history. I live up close to Gifu ridge battlefield

With all them 5 NAVY CROSSES along with the so many actions he lead up front that THE MEDAL OF HONOR was never awarded? He was wounded many times & still stayed & FOUGHT? Can more then learn from his actions?

He was nominated in the action 2 weeks before this one by his regimental commander but it was downgraded to a Navy Cross at division due to a number of suspected reasons.

@@guadalcanal-walkingabattle5349 TOO MUCH BRASS. Did the heavy lifting. Should have named a AIRCRAFT CARRIER after him & not a SUPPLY BARGE after him? But he will still be there in spirit?

Excellent video on this incident, the second name of a Marine on Guadalcanal I learned... Chesty Puller. (I drove by Basilone Rd / Camp Pendleton a few times).

Dad served with him in Nicaragua and in Korea at the frozen Chosin. IU was g=fortunate enough to meet him at Camp Pendleton in 1952. That man was hell on wheels. RIP .

Thank You for all these fantastic Videos. More on Chesty would be awesome. This Battle is never really covered in School. History class turned into "Ethics Class" overnight in Pennsylvania. U.S. Snipers on Guadalcanal........ or anything covering Artillery at the beginning of the Battle..... Oooh, Maybe Casualty clearing stations and all related acti9vities too.
