This guy has the right idea. Separation from the wife and then just take over the entire house and fill it with thousands of dollars in guitars and a rock n roll museum of memorabilia... Who wants to bet he's either got a stage built already or its otherwise in the blueprint stage... You rock Active Melody Maker

That’s just so great! I taught myself a version of that from first position up the fretboard on whatever chords sound good together! The embellishments with my bottom three fingers just came naturally from muscle memory! You, and Chet do it much more masterfully, and it’s such a pleasure to listen to and mimic! Thank you for another great one!😉👌😎

What a lesson. I admire those who play fingerstyle without a pick, such as Marc Knopher and the late Jef Beck. Without aids, just the fingers, chapeau

Love Chet, but let's not forget Jerry Reed, a huge influence on Chet. Jerry wrote some 30+ songs for Chet and kept him actively playing for many years when he was battling cancer.

Jerry Reed, Buster B. Jones, Richard Smith and Tommy Emmanuel all were friends of Chet. Like you said, there are many guitarists that built on Chet. Chet was always improving and had several Rock Guitarists as great friends. We can NEVER underestimate his influence on guitarists all over the world and across many styles.

Great material, thanks. Definitely need to watch this one about 20 times and pause and maybe even slow down a few sections before I’ll get it. This doesn’t seem too easy at first, but I can tell if I can get it down and have it become somewhat automatic between my brain, right hand and left hand, that it will be a lot of fun to explore and experiment with and sound really impressive too:)

Funny, i've always had the exact same problem with the root on the E string, and I just can't unlearn to alternate between E and D. I believe it's so easy in the C shape, cause both hand's patterns are in sync on the A/E string change.

I've been learning blues fingerstyle and Travis-picking over the past couple of years and have been slowly improving. I've really loved playing around with a few Mississippi John Hurt and Skip James numbers on my acoustic, but I'd really like to learn more of this complex country/rockabilly hybrid style picking. It's so rhythmic and vibrant and really showcases the potential of the Travis-picking style. However, playing pull-offs and hammer-ons with barre chords on an acoustic is pretty challenging, so I'm also trying to improve on that side. I'd love to buy an archtop guitar like this one at some point so I can explore this style and sound more. Any recommendations on guitars and perfecting the style would be much appreciated. Thanks so much for such a cool tune and a great tutorial!

Great song, very well explained as allways. That G13 gives me a hard time, barring so that also the 4th string rings nicely. Which lead me to think what kind of strings you are using - maybe a very light gauge? Or is it just a matter of building up a lot more strength?

Perfect mix of Merle and Chester but... Only problem is it takes a while to make the thumb bass automatic thus most of your audience/students will never be able to play it... Great for me though as I use Chester's alternating, thumb bass pattern with a thumb pick and two finger picks.
