"Chevalier, Mult Estez Guariz" is a song in Old French composed in the 12th century (between 1145 and 1147 approximately), on the occasion of the 2nd Crusade, led by King Louis VII said the Younger and his wife the famous Alienor d 'Aquitaine.
This is one of the oldest songs that has come to this day, its author is unknown. It was performed by a large number of medieval troupes and orchestras, the version offered here is by Jordi Savall and dates from 2009.
The song is in fact a call to the crusade, invoking the sufferings that the "pagans" inflict on God and his faithful in the Holy Land, hence the importance of enlisting in the troops of King Louis to go on a crusade . All complemented with biblical reference.
