A general overview is given and a short drive is made with this Chevrolet 490 from 1919. When new it was considered to be a bit more "advanced" in its design when compared to the cheaper Ford Model T that was two speed only and had a side valve engine.
The name 490 came from the announced sales price in US dollars when launched in 1915. Actual sales prices increased over the years that followed. The model was discontinued after 1922 when almost 800 000 cars had been built. A decent sales number but way behind the "T-Fords" sales of many million cars.
The car in the video is an export model with speedometer showing kilometers per hour. This 490 model is right hand side driven since it was sold in Sweden that in those days had left lane driving. (Sweden switched over to the right side in September 1967.)
A small correction. The engine size is 2.8 liter and not 2.4 as mentioned in the video.
The tire size of 30 inches is measured on the outside of the tire, so it is not the rim size.
