I've got an '04 Blazer with the 4.3. I only recently found out they are prone to head gaskets blowing out. Mine is good for now, but that wasn't good news to find out. Yours is the pre-fuel injected engine, so it's looks a bit different than the later ones do under the hood.

It is has throttle body fuel injection "TBI" with two central fuel injectors. Yours would be a vortec with multi point fuel injection. The graphite heads gaskets don't hold up very good. Mine does not have the vortec heads, they do not flow as good and make less power, but they almost never crack. The vortec heads flow better, but they are known for cracking. Hopefully yours holds up fine.

You do not need to pull the exhaust off to remove heads just unbolt them from the head and swing them over to the side. Do remove all the accessories on the front of the motor. This guy did a tonne of work you do not need to do.

I'm trying my hardest to leave exhaust manifold but its really tight are you sure it can stay on drivers side thanks

gotta 92 s10 with the 4.3 dash and under the hood like identical 96k miles
