Like the old truck or I would junk it. You just gave me all the information a man could ask for, just in the event the clutches were damaged and start to slip in the future. Fluids and filters every 40,000 miles wile nothing will last forever so far it is still shifting like a new rig. Thank you for your effort Tom

If someone brought just the transmission to me I would just charge like a normal rebuild. Around 750-800. I put a corvette servo in everyone I build. I like to put a sonnax tcc regulator valve and a sonnax actuator feed limit valve in the valve body too. Also make sure you put a hardened reverse shell. And all new bushings. I like to get a sonnax wide bushing for the rear sun gear. They’re bad about wearing a spot on the front planet hub.

Have you ever had a warped/bent “new” flex plate after pulling/reinstalling trans? I’ve got a 98 Yukon with AutoTrac and the process is very similar to this except for the transfer case. Mine seems to be much more bulky and the front shaft only has one set of u joint bolts. I installed a pioneer flex plate and could not see the warpage with my naked eye. Lt’s Transmission How To I just had a rebuilt trans put in last yr. since the mechanic didn’t have his certificate up to date so I lost the warranty from company I purchased the trans from.i spent $1900. $1300 for the trans. $600 to have installed. I ended up having to take my truck back even though I had the money to pay mechanic. He decided he was going to keep my truck. So I spent a whole day driving around trying to find my truck. He had went across state lines 23 miles from were he worked on it. And got quoted $2200 to have this one rebuilt and another $600 for rear main seal. I don’t want the headache again. @ltstransmissionhowto5158

This should be pretty much the same. In 93 they swapped from 700 to 4L60. If it’s the 700 you will have to take the kick down cable loose. It will be close to where the plug in is on 4L60. As far as removing the transmission there’s not much difference.

Lt’s Transmission How To thank you for the reply. I subscribed to your channel, awesome content. I have one more question, I’m on a budget how do I know that the Torque converter and/or transfer case aren’t the ones that went bad? I’m afraid if they are bad then can ruin they new tranny I put it. Should I replace them all?
@ltstransmissionhowto5158
4 жыл бұрын
It’s probably not your converter. It’s more than likely your 3-4 clutches are burnt. And the rest of the transmission is just wore out. I would for sure put a new converter in it. All the dirty fluid in the transmission is in the converter. And is the transmission is wore out the converter probably is too. As far as the transfer case goes I would just drain the fluid. If chunks of metal come out it’s bad. If not, they don’t give that much trouble. If you are doing 4x4 burnouts or mud bogging everyday you might want to open it up. But just normal driving your transfer case should be good. I would change the front seal on the transfer case. It should have 4 bolts and a seal. Just take the bolts out pry that piece off and change the seal. Silicone it and bolt it back to the transfer case.

Can the throttle position sensor really can cause a limp mode. ?
@ltstransmissionhowto5158
4 жыл бұрын
I had one at the shop this week that would go into limp every once in a while. The only code it was showing was throttle position. I’m not real sure. I do know a throttle position sensor being bad will mess the shifting up. And can cause the transmission to fail.

I see. Well I did the transmission swap and I’m still not getting 3&4 th gears. And still have codes of circuits electrical on all solenoids and torque converter. Any clues what I am looking for to fix this?
@ltstransmissionhowto5158

I would start with checking fuses. Next check your plug in on the transmission make sure it’s plugged in good. Something is up if it’s showing several codes. Possible computer.

Why you talking about a transfer case it says to remove a transmission assuming it's a two-wheel drive these kind of videos are just ridiculous
@ltstransmissionhowto5158
3 жыл бұрын
Well this is a 4 wheel drive so I have to remove the transfer case to get the transmission out. If you’re working on a 2 wheel drive you can skip over the transfer case part and just watch the rest of the video
