I'm sure it will run. I did the right thing when I got dads old c10 250 running after 29 30 years of sitting mixed up some havoline (not my choice of oil what my father ran in it) some lucas zink plus and some seafoam an let it set in the cylinders for about 2 days then turned it over with the starter. Changed carb, plugs, sanded/readjusted the points, new tank, sending unit, electric fuel pump testing purposes. Started after about the 8th or 9th turn over with the key. Had a miss on #2 and #5 I did pull the valve cover and noticed intake on both 2 and 5 was stuck open did the right thing and and used a hammer and hit it gently as a guy would say. Let it run again for 10 15 minutes and finally stopped sticking. Runs smooth slight miss on those 2 still but she runs good.

Ive ran several trucks with the 250 engines. I even got a offenhauser 4 bbl intake and a set of hedders for those engines. We probably have a dozen of those engines in the collection. The 230 used the same pistons as a 283 and the 250 used the same piston as a 307.

@@LeftForDeadGarage We Mostly have Chevy trucks from 1960 thru 72. We use the same bellhousing as yours has to install them with a stick in trucks. If you have a granny low 4 speed they can pull a heavy load and not guzzle fuel like the larger 292 engines do. You can do a poor mans soup up by using a 292 exhaust manifold. Its larger and has a three bolt exhaust flange rather than the two bolt flange commonly found on the smaller displacement engines.

With weak spark, oily plugs and plenty rich mixtures, you might try really small plug gaps, like .015" to get it running, though maybe larger gaps on low compression cylinders. I have had good luck playing with small plug gaps. I like practical stuff like 4 and 6 engines as I'm all done going fast, though I still pull trailers. I'm looking to revive 1 of my 3 Dodge B200/318 vans to go to Oregon, from Asheville, but also have a C-60 school bus with no title or what was a 292 engine, But I doubt I will deal with the title and may get a whole nother large vehicle with which to move. I also have a W150/225. I like G10s if I fail with my B200s.

Get an old pickup truck, throw it in that, run it til she drops. Fire Wood Hauler! Drain the oil, throw on a new filter, put 6 quarts of diesel fuel in it. Run it at idle for about 2 minutes. Drain the diesel and replace the filter with another new one. Put 5 quarts of new oil in it. The diesel will clean up the oil passages. Engine Rebuild in a (fuel) can!

@@LeftForDeadGarage If you have a 327, it has the length stroke as a 230 inline six. Compare the offset of the crank pin in each engine. If they're the same, you have a 230. If the six has more offset at the crank pin, its a 250. That's the difference with those two engines; length of stroke.
