With all due respect..maybe try to hand tighten all the bolts up before running the impact on it.

Might want to add a set of 2 inch drop "shackles" and a set of toxic or nitro drop shocks and always check your pinion angle when and before you install or tighten up new u bolts and Mark your Axle center before you unbolt anything

If your not going to be hauling any weight in the back of truck the frame notch is not required,,, unless your slamming to the ground or air bag’n it,,,,we’ve done many of these trucks for street and drag never even gets close to the axle touching the frame

Opinion on a 1980s Chevy 454 paired with the the 10 speed Alison Transmission that are in the new trucks. Do you think it would be good as in performance and mpg?

I installed the belltech 88-98 flip kit, c notch, shock extenders, Also added the Belltec drop shocks and 2" drop shackles on my own in just about 8 hours solo (already had box off) Here are a few tips for people trying to do this. 1 This was by far the hardest part.... Make sure you have a GOOD 1/2" metal drill bit and use cutting grease for drilling out the holes for the bolts that hold the C notch (or 500 cheap Bits) drilling 8 1/2" holes per side is pain staking. 2 The Beltec flip kits now come with C Notch template that makes it soooo easy to line up and no where to drill and cut. 3 A grinder and saws all is all you need to cut your C notch, its quite simple actually. 4 The nuts that go on your U bolts are 22MM, A deep socket for your air gun helps tremendously 5 To everyone below that says hand tighten the bolts before you put a gun on them. The Nuts have a plastic lock ring built into the top of the nuts SO you barely get the bolts on and you can not tighten them anymore.. I suggest once they tighten up by hand spin them a couple times with a wrench to make sure they are going on with just a bit of pressure before putting the gun on them to make sure they are in fact going on and you do not strip them with the gun. 6 when your done cursing and swearing and she's good to go. Burn some rubber :)

It's faster and stronger if you just weld the c notch along the edges and on the bolt holes.

I did this on my 85' C10. Flip brackets are cheap, and I could use all the old hardware including U-bolts.

Danny Puffin now that you say it, i think the new ones were too long... when i did my f100, i bought new ones from a leaf spring shop. they were only like $7

Yes new U bolts can be too long and needs to be cut. But what I didn't notice was that I got a 12bolt axle from a Blazer K5, so the shock extender brackets did not line up. Shock mounts are different on stock C10. But I'm thinking about welding the brackets to the axle

ever see what happens when u break the u bolts from laying rubber when u do this it is not pretty i would just re arch the springs or just get a after market suspension we did this once we just cut the old bracket off the rear end and just put on top and wield it on it is so easy to do

I think its either western chassis or belltech.. same thing. If you do this on a 4x4 you will lose your off road capability. My preference is to lift a 4x4.

I know this is old but you can buy hangers that your leaf springs hook to on the front of the spring allowing you to lower your truck but leave the axle on the factory location.
