I own a 2011 cruze LTZ RS (Gasoline Turbo Engine)
On our first cold snap last year, I noticed the heat gauge dropping while my car was sitting and idling at a stop light. I took the vehicle to my dealer where they changed out the thermostat. I picked up the vehicle drove home parked in my stall and sat for about two mins and watched the gauge again begin to drop while idling. I returned to the dealer within fifteen mins and showed the foreman this same action which he could not explain. The next day our weather warmed up and there was no problem until this year again, where our temp went to -17C plus wind chill. I booked another appointment with the dealer and they again looked at the car. The foreman advised me that all the cruze 4 cyl. turbo engines 2011 2012 & 2013 do this and it is a software issue as he tested another cruze in their lot. So I called GM's 877 number as advised by the foreman, as he could do nothing else about this problem. I did in fact call the GM number advised the rep. of this issue he did look into it and advised me that this is not a problem. So what I need everyone to know is: If you live in florida then yes he is correct there is no problem, but if you live in a climate such as Canada's where you have winter for six months out of every year he is incorrect as once the tempurature drops you require every ounce of heat an engine can produce which for this vehicle is good providing the vehicle is always under load Eg. being driven and the RPM's are at 1500 or higher which is do-able until you have to stop at an intersection, stop light or god forbid you are in slow moving traffic (30KM) as this is not enough load for the engine and its tempurature again drops todays temp was only -10C and this was still the case.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE LEMONS !!!
