I consider the 1985 Chicago Bears the Best single season team in NFL history. They dominated in all of their wins. As great as the Defense was, McMahon and Payton has one of their best seasons. Incredible

2:35 Recall it was named '46' because that was Doug Plank's number; he would blitz the QB unnoticed at times. The safety biz wasn't common then. Plank's protege was Gary Fencik, 45; he learned Plank's explosive 'human missile' hitting form. That projectile on the left is Fencik! Not many join the tackle like that these days.

man i wish football didn't become just an offensive attack....as a guy who loves defense those highlights are pure gold to me...i get safety and all that but defense can not even be played anymore. if you fart next to the qb you get penalized it's ridiculous

This is a misnomer. The Bears didn't run the 46 in 1986, 87, and 88. They stopped running it after Buddy Ryan left after Super Bowl XX.

Yep agreed, wasn't sure what to make the title with that in mind. Bears were at their best in 1985 with the 46, but they were still really good from 1986 to 1988.

@@dukewilson14 I salute you. You were right to title it the way you did. You're absolutely right.

This is football. It’s a contact sport. Today’s game is just not even close to exciting. You sign a contract to play this game you better be willing to take whatever comes to you. If not don’t play. Today is unwatchable. Predictably sad….. Too much public gambling going on for it to be a legitimate thing. Fixed sports today. I rather garden than watch the crap today 🥴😭🤣💀

Then go garden. Don’t think you not watching will change anything
