Hi Jimmy. I play along with headphones so I don't use a PA system or amplifiers. If you want to play along with speakers they need to be pretty sturdy and loud. I'd look into some equipment like this: www.walmart.com/ip/Mackie-THUMP15A-Powered-15-Speaker-Pair-with-8-Channel-Mixer-and-Stands-DJ-Set-2600-Watt-Active/978515112?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=393&adid=22222222227111632535&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=235222071521&wl4=pla-385533560616&wl5=9016970&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=111840031&wl11=online&wl12=978515112&wl13=&veh=sem

Again, great stuff Steve! My band has been playing this song for about 8 months now (a HUGE crowd pleaser!). We just rehearsed it today. I don't know the original drummer's name from Chicago, but damn he was very "tom-fill busy" on this song (too much for my taste). Cool to see that many of the same improvisations i've picked are similar to yours. I think you've got some additional flare I can try to include in some of my fills as well. I also see that you're an Evans fan. I started using those heads about 10 years ago and I have loved every moment playing on them (coincidentally, my overall set up is similar to yours). Hope you had a splendid weekend. Cheers, Scott.

Hi Scott!! I can only imagine how fun it would be to play this song with an actual band in a live setting!!! Good for you!!!! The original drummer for Chicago is Danny Seraphine. He was definitely playing a lot of fills on this song so I did the same on this cover. It's kind of like a 6-minute drum solo with an accompanying band!!! I also started using Evans heads about 10 years ago. I love them!! The drum kit I use for my cover videos is much bigger than my live kit. My live kit is extremely small and compact. As I've gotten older I seem to use less and less gear. Less is more!!!! Thanks!!!
@scottmitchell555
7 жыл бұрын
Oh man... I couldn’t agree with you more. Less is more indeed. I’ve designed my “live kit / gear set up” to get the most bang for the buck with the smallest footprint possible. It’s bad enough we drummers need to make 7 trips loading in… why make it 12 trips? Sadly, I really don’t get to use the other 60% of my kit, but at least they remain in brand new condition in their cases. Have a great week Steve!
@SteveToccoDrummer

Believe it or not, my live kit requires only two trips from my car to the stage. And both trips are on wheels. Yes, it's a sign of old age!!!!!! LOL!!!!

My goal with this song wasn't to copy every fill of the great Danny Seraphine . I have over 450 drum videos on my channel. Sometimes, I try to play a song note-for-note. Other times, I just want to do my own interpretation of a song. In this video, I chose the latter. Thanks for watching!!
