I'm from West Philly and have lived in Chicago for five years. I lived on the north side of Chicago. For me, Chicago had a somewhat boring social lifestyle. I thought it would be like New York City( lived in NYC as well). Chicago's culture is sort of southern. You can even hear a slight southern accent from the people there. One big thing about Chicago is that it's segregated!!! The north side is mostly White. Saying that, because of Chicago's size it's like 3 cities in one, the north side, west side, and south side. It's nothing like Philadelphia at all. Philadelphia is much more sociable and what makes Philly are the people they're loyal. But in some parts of Philadelphia, the people do trash their city. But I left Chicago because it was kind of boring. Must be a Midwest thing.
@thatphillyguy61

@hahasauce756 I lived in Chicago for 5 years, and you're right. Chicago people don't trash their city like East Coast cities do. And the lakefront in Chicago is really nice. Big nice looking city though.

The humans who created the environment and conditions, and MAINTAIN the conditions for this to continue to happen. Some here say Chicago reminds them of Philadelphia. I don't agree with that at all. I lived in Chicago for 5 years. Chicago may look cleaner overall, especially in Black neighborhoods, but Philly is like a checkerboard. There are trashy neighborhoods in Philly, but lots of really nice, clean neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Most big cities have a downside to it. What surprised me about Chicago is the racial segregation. This affected the social lifestyle in Chicago for me. Chicago is a big city with great architecture and a huge lakefront. The city has several beaches. Lake Michigan is a clean lake, and Chicago people swim in it. In most cities in the African American neighborhoods in the inner-city you'll find a lot of immigrant convenience stores. This is where drugs and crime circulate. If African Americans controlled the economy in their neighborhoods and owned the stores, you would see far less crime.

Madison and Pulaski is HORRIBLE. I have to admit that. The only time they cleaned the area up was on election day. They were not even selling drugs that day. I could not believe it.

The Northside of Chicago, Mount Greenwood, Oak Lawn, Oak Forest, Tinley Park, Orland Park, Springfield, small far-out towns past Cook County, etc... These areas have the highest concentration the further you go from the inner-city.
