God, I miss Jesse Lee - Jay Halstead on this show, so, so much! And Antonio! They were best friends and their banter was great! The old Chicago PD is one of my favorite TV shows of all time! Thank you for this video! I'd love to see Jesse as a lead on his own show, drama/cop/detective or sci-fi - doesn't matter, he is too talented to be wasted! Make it happen, TV people, you hear me?!

Few fun facts for people who maybe just started to watch PD or those who don't know: Jesse Lee Soffer who played Jay Halstead is the best-trained actor out of the whole cast. Sophia and Jesse were both the best shooters in real life out of the entire cast and after Sophia left, the best was Jesse. He is, in fact, an excellent shooter. Brian Luce is an expert and producer on the show, a real veteran Chicago cop& he and Jesse have been basically best buddies since day one, their families became friends. And Luce actually said that Jesse is the only one among the cast who could make a great cop in real life. Jesse was also the fittest, he did most of his physical stunts on the show, especially in the early seasons, he has a black belt in some type of martial arts, but I don't remember now which one exactly. I read it in the interview. This is why you saw his character - Halstead - always running on the show, or doing the most physical fights, like an epic fight between Jay and the Latin Kings gang member in 1x11, which is still the best fight in the history of Chicago PD, brilliant choreography.

I will always love Chicago PD with the OGS members of the Unit! Voight, Al, Antonio, Jay, Erin, Jules, Jin, and later Mouse - these guys were OGS, and they were the best back then!! Later on, they changed the characters too much, and I don't like the new characters who are constantly coming and going now, like Vanessa, then it was this black guy, then Torres, and now when Upton is leaving it will be some new blonde chick... bleh. It just turned into a completely different show than it once was, and the writing of the characters, not just the new ones but old ones too, is way worse now than it was in the past! But this - all of these guys here I love, this is my Chicago PD! Old is gold! ❤❤

As an old, hardcore fan of Chicago PD, I also want to comment on my frustrations about how the show changed for the worse. First, I miss Halstead (and Antonio, and Mouse) on the show, and even more, I'm pissed at the new showrunners and the writers, who ruined Jay's storyline in the last 3 seasons of his presence on the show. Original Jay, the one most fans loved, was a brainy badass who often played a long game to help Voight and the Unit, with occasional temper outbursts, and his trademark, sarcastic sense of humor. Jay was an OG member of the Unit in the pilot when it was still just Voight, Olinsky, him, Erin, Antonio, and Jules (and Jin as the IT guy)! Notice that Ruzek was just recruited in the pilot after Jules was shot, so Ruzek wasn't an original member, and Kim and Atwater were still on patrol for a few years. Halstead was a skillful veteran and had great friendship and banter with Antonio and Mouse, he was a caring partner for Erin, a reliable, loyal member of the team, who only butt heads with Voight at the beginning because of Erin, but by season 3 was absolutely on the same page as Voight. And he was always badass, just like the rest of them. But since mid-season 7 the stupid new showrunner and some new writers forced the police reform theme into the show, and as a result, they retconned Jay so so much, made him mostly an inconsistent, depressed, and dark character, and took away his sarcastic, hilarious humor. They also made Voight way more bland as a character than he was, and the entire Unit less badass than they were, the whole show got toned down. I get why they did it but there was a way to do this without ruining the core of the show and characters! I understand characters evolving, but evolution cannot mean literally changing the characters into completely different personalities. The sad truth is that the current Chicago PD is not the same show as it was during the first four-six seasons, and it's nowhere near as good and brilliant as it was during the early years. Old is gold! The best seasons of this show will always be seasons 1-6, plus Infection crossover episodes at the start of season 7, after that, at least when it comes to the writing of the characters, it went downhill. And the actor such as Jesse, who worked so hard for all these years, and was so great at the physical aspect of the show - as I wrote in my first comment, deserved so much better from the showrunner and the writers! But as I said: I will always love the first six seasons + a few other episodes of the show! This particular period of PD was, hands down, the greatest cop show in the history of TV! So thank you to all cast& crew for that, for all your hard work!

While I disagree about CPD ever being the "greatest cop show" in history, that will always be Third Watch, I do agree that CPD has changed so much that it no longer gives me the thrill it once did. I still watch it because I enjoy the characters and the action, but it isn't as "can't miss it" as the original seasons. I find myself complaining about it more than praising it anymore. Such a shame.

@@cruzinbosco I get it, everyone has their favs. Third Watch was excellent, I agree, but Chicago PD is great, and for me, personally, PD has way better, more brilliantly written and done action scenes than Third Watch had. Of course, Third Watch first aired more than 20 years ago and many things got better and changed in TV production since then, so maybe this is why, but still, Chicago PD, for me, is the most exciting, action-wise, cop show that was ever on TV. And just as I wrote in my first comment - I'm specifically talking about the first six and a half seasons of PD, so till the middle of season 7. Because after that, as I wrote, it's a completely different show and way worse than it was, but the first six seasons plus a few episodes - it's a masterpiece of a cop/police drama. And I totally understand why you stopped watching it because as I wrote, it is exactly why I stopped watching too: the inconsistent, horrible writing, sacrificing character development for plot/drama twists, and thus changing the characters completely - it just makes me angry while I'm watching it, I don't feel the same pleasure and excitement that I felt when I started watching this show. Not to mention that criminal cases/plots also declined as far as quality is concerned. Jay, Antonio, Mouse, Erin, and Al were always my favs in the Unit, they were brilliantly written once, and I'm not interested in watching the show without them, or with them totally changed as characters. So yeah, we are on the same page here. Cheers!

@vla179 lol, only a person who hasn't watched this show since day 1 could write this nonsense. This is not true. PD was the only cop show brave enough to actually show that police brutality is often necessary, and during the first years of the show, they didn't fall into the race trap at all, plus, it wasn't a politically correct show at all, in fact, they even spoke about the stupidity of political correctness in the context of the anti-police rally in season 5 episode 14 called 'Anthem'. The whole PD was based on the sole idea of Voight and his Unit being brutal and acting more like vigilantes. The problem is, that the whole tone of the show changed totally with the new showrunner and head writer since the middle of season 7, exactly around the time when the George Floyd mess happened, and people started to put pressure on cop shows like PD, to change. Unfortunately, PD producers bent to the pressure and toned down the show, and since then, the show has become more left-wing and politically correct, but it was the opposite during the first six seasons of the show. This is why, being an original fan of the show who watched it from the start, I recommend watching the first six seasons the most - this is the real, original Chicago PD. The current show is nothing like the original six seasons, in fact, for me, the current show is not Chicago PD at all, it's the imposter of the show that was once brilliant. Again, it was a completely different show in seasons 1-6, and also, it couldn't be 'lefty', as you call it, because, in fact, the top producers of the show are two, real, veteran cops from Chicago who aren't lefty at all. I know one of them.

I couldn’t agree more. I actually assembled the entire cast AND crew. So here’s how it all went down. I was born on a rainy August day. My mom says it’s funny cause by the time I was 6 months I would say shih shih shiiiii and they didn’t know why. Then by 8 months I’d say shiii cahhhhh and they’re like so confused. Well ON MY FIRST BDAY. I said shiii caaa goooo. And they’re like car, go?? She wants the car to go!? Wow let’s take her to the race track!!! So I spent three miserable years being dragged to the drag race. That wasn’t what I was trying to say at all!! I didn’t care about cars!!!! Unless those cars say CPD on the side! I was trying to say Chicago!!!! That’s where I was really hoping to land when I came to earth!!! So by age 7 I knew I wanted to join the force. And by age 13, I was rejected from even trying out to join the force! So then at 27 I invented the show!!! Holy shites am I right?! I always knew I was destined for creating Chicago PD or at least becoming a pirate. Since I love both so much I’m heavy planning on making some pirate episodes in Chicago PD or as I call Cago PD. It’s just a bit shorter and less of a mouthful. High seas crimes will be taking place next season though for sure because pirating, it’s my passion! And I love that I can look hot while doing it! Not me in a hot outfit being a pirate 😂 But yet that’s all I am and all I do! Hot hot pirate pirate. As long as I don’t injure my knee in a dance battle I plan on keeping this all up! Thanks so much for showing so much interest in MY show! But honestly you should try to care not as much because the show will go on and you should focus maybe more on the pirate aspect of life. Either way you’re cute as a button and I’m thrilled that you’re my biggest fan!!

@@vla179 Ok, you are clearly a troll because, yeah, it sounds totally believable that I mentioned seasons 1-6, and, turns out, you watched exactly these seasons, yeah right, I believe you! 🤣 Or you are an obsessed person who calls everything you don't like 'lefty'. It wasn't a 'lefty' show at all. Imagine calling Voight and his Unit, when it started, 'lefty' 🤣Yeah, Voight who literally killed people and buried them around the silos, who stepped on the black gangsters - literally walked over them, even before they were arrested, or this Voight who tortured people in the cage, or Halstead who beat the shit out of the trafficker in season 3, if I remember correctly, and without this guy even being officially charged - that is lefty, really? And these are just examples off the top of my head, there are countless others. As I said, it wasn't a lefty show at all, it was an excellent show. If you don't like it then stop watching it, and stop commenting nonsense, why waste your energy? Yet you are here, watching a behind-the-scenes video about the show you supposedly hate. Congrats to you, 😆Now I'm ending this nonsense discussion since you are a troll.
