The “Wild Mile” is a floating eco park on the Chicago River, aimed at creating more vibrant ecosystems and helping the community understand and support them. The project features floating garden islands that offer habitat for fish and other wildlife, and biologists at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium are encouraged by a recent discovery about the habitats.
This segment won the Emmy for Environment/Science - Short or Long Form Content in the 2021 Michigan awards and 1st place for Videography in the Society of Professional Journalists Detroit Chapter Excellence in Journalism Awards 2020.
