Yes!! With the plunger it's on a whole different level.

Man, another fantastic installment of Mute Monday - thanks, Josh! The Rampton/Hirschman interview was fun and informative and just a great touch. Curious to hear your compare/contrast thoughts with this mute and the Huber Buzz Pixie (which I have and really love).

Thanks, Bart! I'll be doing a buzz mute showdown at sometime in the future, maybe in a month or two. With this new one, the Huber one, H&B Buzz-Wow (gonna try and get both designs), and the AP&M buzz mute I have. I really like both of them - the pixie one has less buzz volume, but it's a pixie mute with a buzz. This new one is really a pure buzz mute. Some people will dig the Huber as it's more subtle and still gives a nice effect without going full tilt. But if you really want to make a statement with the buzz, or cut through a larger ensemble, then this new one is exactly what you'll want.

@@JoshRzepkaMusic Which H&B buzz-wow do you need? And I think you got the descriptions of the mutes correct! I was going for the sound of the pixie mute and buzz mute combined, Hirschman and Rampton went for as pure of a buzz sound that you can get. Cool sounding mute!

Thanks, Josh! Mine is coming tomorrow. My East Chicago H&B sounds pretty good, but the buzz sorta fades above the top of the staff, at least behind the bell. I haven't recorded it to hear what it sounds like out front. It did take a bit of experimentation to get maximum buzz tho. I added a fiber washer behind one of the nuts on mine to allow it to be tight, but loose - if you know what I mean. Following their directions and breathing on the resonators or blowing warm air into either end does help on the H&B tho. I look forward to comparing the 2 myself and to how your comparison goes too.

Nice! Definitely a niche product. I became interested in buzz mutes after watching a video by Paul the Trombonist titled, "The Coolest Trombone Mute in the World." I was utterly disappointed by the dearth of trunpet buzz mutes. There's hope for me after all!

I’ve been trying to figure out what mute was used in the trumpet solo in “Celery Stalks at Midnight - Les Brown” and I think I found it! Great video, Josh and what a mute!

That's a cool mute. I wonder if it will buzz if you just sing into it with voice, or maybe sing through the trumpet. It is so interesting to hear creators talking about the history behind this little buzzing thing. Oh I am glad that you tried the mute out with the plunger as Kenny recommended.

Thanks!! It is like a kazoo - but better to get a regular kazoo for singing through - it'll be more open.

I've just got hold of one! Was it made for a certain size bell? My notes cant centre with it, it's as if I'm playing half valved whilst it's in
